So I'm sure some of you have seen that there's been several reports over the past few weeks about a Nexus 8 tablet that Google is working on.   It's just rumor for now but some of the 'supposed'...and take them with a big grain of salt....details include it being made by LG and having a 64bit intel processor inside.  Any thoughts on this from our forum members?   Would you buy a Nexus 8?   What would a Nexus 8 tablet have to have for you to be interested and do you prefer the Nexus 7 size or the Nexus 8 size in a tablet?

We kinda have this already with the Nexus 7 Deals, Discounts and Sales Board.   Whenever we come across a sale price that's worth noting we usually post it there or on the front page.  But it's not really worth our time to keep an ongoing tally of every shopping site and their prices, etc as most of the people on this forum already own a Nexus 7.  We do have links to the Nexus 7 on Amazon on the front page as well which usually is at a pretty decent price lower than the Google Play price.   (usually $199/$229 instead of $229/$269 on Google Play).

While most of us would agree that Google and Asus did a pretty good job with their 2013 edition of the Nexus 7 tablet, they sure have taken their sweet time in getting any kind of official docking solution into the Play Store.   We're happy to say that wait has ended and we've now got two interesting, albeit pricey options if you're looking for some 'official' dock and charging love. 

First up is the official Nexus 7 2013 wireless charging stand model #PW100.  Designed with a cool pyramid-like design it takes advantage of the wireless Qi capability in your Nexus 7 and allows you to charge your tablet by placing your tab in a landscape position wire-free with or without cover. There's an LED to tell you when it's fully charged.  It's a little unclear if the charging dock will work in portrait orientation as well.  We'll probably have to wait until the first units are reviewed to tell. Pricing is $90, which definitely makes this one of the pricier charging stations we've seen...but hey if you want the 'official' one you might want to go for it.

Next up is the Asus Dock for Nexus 7 2013, which lets you position your Nexus 7 in either portrait or landscape orientation and charge your tablet while plugged into the MicroUSB connector.  It also lets your stream video via HDMI to your tv.  The dock is priced at around $80 on Ebay right now, although the 'list' price is around $50.  We've provided links below if you want to grab either of these new accessories as they're not showing up in the Play Store just yet.

While it came out last year the Nexus 10 still is Google's largest Nexus tablet and its 2560 x 1600 display is still state of the art when it comes to Android tablets.  With its Exynos 5250 dual core 1.7GHz Arm processor, 2GB of RAM, 5 mp rear camera and 1.9mp front camera, front firing speakers and long lasting Li-Po 9000 mAh battery...the Nexus 10 is still one of the best 10 inch tablets out there.  Other features include a Mali T604 GPU for smoking graphics, upgradability to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS, GPS with GLONASS, NFC, microUSB v2.0, Bluetooth and more.   This is a BRAND NEW unit...not refurbished and has the full Google warranty.  It's a great 'big brother' to your Nexus 7 so grab em while they got em!

I take anything I see from Digitimes with a big grain of salt.   The Nexus 8 rumor is based on an article they had about it but it says Asustek would again be the manufacturer.   I do think it's a possibility as I think that larger smart phones with 5 or 6 inch screens are starting to blur the lines between tablet and phone and might be cutting into Nexus 7 sales.   By making an 8 inch Nexus tablet it will more clearly define it as a tablet and differentiate it from large phones.  It also makes it more competitive with the 7.9 inch iPad Mini.   But considering the following they've developed with the Nexus 7 I'm not so sure they'd do it.  There's also a report today that HTC has been tapped to make the next Nexus 10...also from a report in Digitimes.    As Matt said, there's also a rumor that perhaps the Nexus brand will be ended and replaced solely with the Google Play Edition devices.   I'm not sure if I believe that either however.  Frankly, I don't know what to believe.  When Google actually says it...or we see some hard evidence like some leaked FCC docs or pics...then I'll believe.
