My Nexus 7 has worked beautifully in the past with my NetGear N600 Router but today I'm having "Authentication" problems. Router is still working fine with our 2 MacBooks so the problem doesn't seem to be the router. "NetGear2" shows up on the screen showing full bars, the lock symbol and "Authentication problem." When I touch the "reverse arrows/yin/yang like symbol" it says: "Press the WiFi Protected Setup button on your router. It may be called 'WPS' or contain the symbol that I described as looking somewhat like a yin/yang. PROBLEM: I can't any button on the N600 that matches those descriptions. Can anyone help me get my Nexus back?? Thanks, Rob

I've barely begun to scratch the surface when it comes to understanding my Nexus 7. Have a feeling I should be able to figure this out but so far I haven't. I've heard several references to the need for an OTG cable since the 7 doesn't have a USB port. Since my charger cord has a USB connector on one end and micro on the other, why can't I just pull the plug from the charger module and use it to connect my 7 to my laptop? Thanks, Rob

I have the on line version, would just like to have the other, especially since everyone else who bought a new 7 seems to have one. Just a part of my "old fart brain" that still likes to turn the pages occasionally.

My "7" arrived (Radio Shack On-Line Purchase) without the hard copy manual and warranty booklet. R.S. says contact ASUS. On line and phone attempts have both been exercises in frustration.
Does anyone have a "Snail Mail Address" that I can direct a request for these material to??
Thanks, Rabbit

Problem solved. Wish I could tell you exactly how, but I seemed to have stumbled on it through some combination of Google settings. Sorry I can't be more specific but such is the depth of my ignorance! Sufficient to say for the moment that this no cost ap seems to be a really nice thing! Happy New Year! Rob

Happy New Year! And thanks for taking the time to read this question and help if you can. Last night I downloaded GrooVe I.P. Lite to my Nexus 7 The GV logo is green and I am able to dial. (all numbers including area code) I get the following message: "We could not complete you call. Please try again." Following FAQ I should make an outgoing call from GMail using the Call Phone Option under Chat. Problem is I can't find Chat or (obviously) the Call Phone Option under it. What am I missing here? Thanks, Rob

I access my Google Email account both on my Nexus 7 and on my Macbook. Occasionally an email message will include a link to some web site which is no problem on either machine IF the link is only one line long. In that case, simply clicking on the link will take me where I need to go. If, however, the link goes into a second line I have to highlight the complete link and then copy and paste to my address line at the top of the screen. This is no problem on the MacBook but I can't figure out how to highlight, copy and paste on the Nexus. Must be simple, eh? Appreciate any help you can offer. Rob

Recently ordered a Moko case for my Nexus 7 from BSC. Arrived in a couple of days. Was very pleased until I realized I couldn't use my tablet with the cover folded against the back. It would auto shut off. (ref: thread in "Accessories") I emailed them last night and found the following response this a.m. Couldn't ask for more. Hope some find this info helpful.
I am really really sorry for the experience. We will ship a replacement case soon and there is no need to ship the defective case back ( it could be missing the magnetic shield in the back cover) . You may disable the auto on/off function on your current CASE by taking the magnet out of the case. It is embedded inside of the front cover under the hand strap. You may need a sharp knife to accomplish the task and then seal the opening with some tape. This way you can use the case as a layover case before the new one arrives. And again, we apologize for all the inconvenience. Regards,Jim "

"Good luck, indeed!" I emailed BSCstore (retailer) last night and had the following response early this a.m. I'm including it in it's entirety as it contains some useful information and certainly demonstrates EXCELLENT customer service on the part of BSC.

Thanks, Bigtroutz, Think I'll return it and go for the alternative you mentioned. Want to feel a little more comfortable with what's there now before I start downloading different gadgets! Merry Christmas!

Have only had my N-7 for about a week and already love it. I ordered one of the Moku cases and am pleased with it as well, EXCEPT for one problem that may have me sending it back and continuing my search for a decent case. The auto shut off and turn on when opening the case would be fine but for the fact that it also shuts off, and won't allow me to keep the tablet on, when the front of the case is folded flat against the back side of the unit. This would be my preferred set up for reading but it always shuts the unit off. Is there a setting that will get me around this problem, or do I live with it or send it back? Thanks, Rob

Hi Chris, Just happened to read your post by chance and was intrigued to know that I'm not the only one "waiting for Christmas day" to open my new 7! Merry Christmas, and enjoy the holidays. Come Dec. 26 we should both have a lot more to say!

Old enough (64) to feel "oh so often" lost in this high tech age. Ultimate "Newbie" in that my "7" hasn't arrived yet, but it has been ordered. The extent of my current techie toys is an MP3 player, my faithful old Mac Book, and a Verizon G'z One phone. In short, I'll be doing a lot of reading of old posts and will most certainly be coming back to the well frequently with questions. Looking forward to it. And while I have your attention, Happy Hannukah, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Eid, etc. etc. to you all! Rob (a.k.a. Rabbit, for reasons I don't recall.)
