Wanted to share an interesting gadget I just discovered.
My N7 is a "walk-around" device, but as I move from the 2nd floor of my house (where my wifi router is located) to the 1st floor my signal goes from "excellent" to "poor"
I wanted to call to your attention an interesting gadget to extend your wifi coverage and solve this problem.
The "N300 Universal Wi-Fi extender form Edimax" is about the size of a multi-outlet power connector. It's easy to sync this with your wifi-router and relocate this gadget anywhere in your house when your wifi signal needs a boost.l. It simply plugs into the nearest electrical outlet and regenerates your wifi signal. Can move it from outlet to outlet without loosing synch. Costs $50 (less at Amazon). Found mine on-sale at NewEgg for $25.
So now my N7 signal strength is "excellent" throughout all areas of my multi-floor house.

Unfortunately N7 will not play my "million" WMA-coded music files, and so I need to convert them to MP3 format. Resulting audio quality (on N7) will depend on several factors (1) WMA bit rate, which is 64kbps and satisfactory to me, (2) MP3 decoder-player on N7, which is PlayPro with quality headphones, (3) the quality of my ears, which are 70+ years old. Probably other factors as well. I'd like to minimize file space on N7 but not lose much in the way of sound-quality --- so what's your best guess for my minimum MP3 bitrate  (Assume that my WMA-to MP3 does a reasonable job. and uses a fixed conversion rate). I'd appreciate your opinion.

Here's a simple question for all you N7 experts.
When I power-up N7 the first thing I see is my home-page with icons for all my Apps. When I swipe the screen I see my Daily Agenda which I've optioned to load from my Google Calendar.
How can I set my Agenda screen to be first thing I see when I power up? (I think I'm asking how to set my Agenda as the home screen).
Any down-side to this?

Is it necessary to "turn off" Apps when not in use, to save on power and interference with other Apps ? In most Apps there is not an easy way to do this
For example, I'd like to stop listening to music (from my Google Music Player App) so I press "pause" and move on to other N7 activities. Should I be disabling Music Player in some way while I am in another App? How?

Have tried several music equalizers. All load OK on N7, interface seens fine, but cannot get any to affect music in earphones. Tried this with several program sources - WinAmp-Free, Netflix, Youtube, ever a sample song that came packaged with Equalizer. Must be an N7 setting problem, or an Android 4.1 problem.
Yes, I've set N7 to the equalizer I'm using, under Settings> Sounds> Music Effects> my equalizer.
Any advice on this?
If you are using an equalizer that is working correctly, tell me which one and I'll give it a try.

After installing music-player apps on W7 that claim to play .wma format I am unable to get this to work. Cannot properly load my music files.
From what I can determine from error messages "your phone (N7) does not accept this audio format"
Anyone think differently?

I'd like to manually move (not sync) some music files/folders from Win7 desktop PC to a newly created folder on N7.
Can mount N7 as a HD on my PC via USB and see its file system. Can add this new folder to the N7 structure -- but where ?? In what directory??
Once I do this I assume that I can copy (drag and drop) desired data files/folders into this newly created folder. Right?
The new folder will contain music tracks in wma format. Purpose of all of this is to have a wma music player on N7 (WinAmp is the only one I've found) play the contents of this new folder. Is it better to associate folder/files with the WinAmp player, or to have the player simply search for wma files on N7 -- where ever they may be?

Anyone know of an N7 (free) music App that directly plays WMA from (from Windows Media Player)?
Most players I've seen require a pre-conversion from WMA to MP3.
Ability to sync with WMP would be an added plus.
Given the popularity of WMP, I'm surprised that a WMA player is so hard (for me) to find. Perhaps I am searching incorrectly.

I have a large collection of music MP3s on my W7 PC, managed by Windows Media Player. I can move then to N7 and sync them, but how do I play them on N7. Is the software for this built in to N7? Will it recognize Titles, Artists, Genres, etc? Do I need to add an App to N7 for this?
Please help.

When I touch Google icon all that I see is search area and recent search topics. No 3-dot options icon at bottom of screen
Was expecting to see something about Google Now, along with Note Cards
What now ?? How do I restore Google Now?

I add topic to search box in UR corner- white text in black search box
RClick on magnifying glass
Nothing happens -- no search!
What am I doing wrong ?
