I need to ask a few questions - particularly about file management. Where are file copies stored on Nexus? How are edited files synced with files on SD card ? Is cloud storage a part of Polaris ? Etc

After 6 months of predictable battery performance my N7 (2013) suddenly requires more frequent charging. I see that apps at start-up are as expected; app power usage seems normal; Wifi, gps, bluetooth are off when nor required, and usage are as they always have been. Battery discharge is noticeably faster than before.
Also, full start-up (from power-off) seems slower.
Perhaps there is something running in the background that I cannot see, or there is wake-lock activity. Is there a tool or procedure that can determine this? (My Nexus in NOT rooted). Perhaps the battery itself has degraded over time
Any suggestions on how to track this down?

Just installed KitKat and noticed that startup (cold boot) seems much longer that with 4.3. With wifi "off" Here is what I'm seeing: From side-button press to moving circles -- 15 sec From circles to icons on screen -- another 15 sec From icons on screen until notifications appear -- another 15 sec From notifications until (daily calendar) widget app data -- another 15 sec
So about a minute start-up until I'm fully operational. What's your experience with this?
Of course this doesn't happen often since most of the time my N7 is sleeping or awake. Ever since KK my mag-cover works reliably with or without wifi enabled.

Finally received KitKat and (with some trepidation, in view of the many problem reports) installed it on N7 (2013) and N7 (2012). Sort of a "ho-hum" experience. Not much visible difference. Some icon and color changes. Perhaps the real changes are "under the hood". Did not experience any of the horror stories reported on the Android sites. Startup (cold start) seems a bit slower but case-magnet sleep and wake-up appears to now work reliably. (In 4.3 this function required that wifi be "on" in order to wake). All of my apps seem to work as before.
Please (continue to ) share your 4.4 experiences. What's different; what works (better); what does not?

The 110V charger that came with my Nexus 7 (2013) delivers an output of 5.2V at 1.35A. Can I assume that a car charger, with micro-USB connector, that plugs into my cigarette lighter and delivers an output of 5V at 2A will charge my N7 just fine?

Just checked Chrome on my Nexus 7 (2013) and I found that I have dozens of open tabs. Not sure how I accumulated all of these but I'd like to close them without x-ing out each one individually. Could not find an option for this. Seems absurd. Is there an easy way to "close all tabs"?

I have lots of apps on my N7. Wondering how best to treat seldom used apps so as to minimize possible battery drain. cpu performance, N7 start-up time. Should they be (force) stopped, uninstalled until needed, removed from start-up, etc -- or should I just leave them alone? What is the best policy on this?

Just received a new case (Poetic Slimline) for N7(2013). The case contains an instant sleep-wake feature when cover is closed-open. Very convenient feature, but works reliably only if wifi is enabled upon sleep ?? Anyone know what "wifi-on" has to do with any of this?.
Nice to see that N7 and wifi can hibernate with no appreciable battery discharge (lost 1-2% charge during 12 hour hibernate).

I'd like to know more about the native audio system on Nexus 7.
When I play audio app that does not have its own audio output (like a podcast or text-to-speech app) what controls the qualities of the audio output? Is it Google Play or something else? Is signal equalization or preamp possible, or is my control limited to only to Volume via Settings or rocker-switch.
If I install a music player with audio controls (like PowerAmp) is there a way to make this my default audio controller for all Nexus sound?

Any thoughts on the sound quality from the N7 built-in stereo speakers, when playing music.
Any recommendations on (Play) equalizer settings to get the best sound from these speakers?

I'm planning to place a large number of folders (perhaps 50, containing about 700 songs, with a total size of about 1GB) in the "Music" folder of my Nexus 7 (JellyBean 4.3.3). Is there a limit on number of folders or size that the "Music" folder can hold?

Does this mean no charging/speaker station?

Would like a simple app that can stream a few of my favorite podcasts to my N7.2 and let me store some of them for playback when internet unavailable.
Any recommendations?

Is it possible to download programs for future play without Internet access?
