I use OTG cable and reader to view SDHC pix. I use Nexus Media Importer to view and transfer some pix to N7. I keep these in Gallery album and transfer selected photos to flash using NMI

Nexus 7 Polls / Re: Would you use a case with integrated OTG USB Port?« on: October 20, 2013, 09:54:23 AM »
I occasionally use OTG cable with Nexus Media Importer to view photos, vids.
OK to build this into case only if case meets my needs (slim, attractive, etc). Currently using Poetic case with my Nexus 7 (2913). Perfect for my needs. Ideal OTG connection would be non-cable integrated unit that accepts USB + SDHC 18
New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Re: Rarely Used Apps« on: October 02, 2013, 11:14:13 AM »
Thanks for the advice.
Aside from memory usage (which you say is not a problem), how do I ensure that some of these "seldom used apps" are not running in the background and degrading cpu performance? Not obsessed by this, just curious. 19
New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Rarely Used Apps« on: September 30, 2013, 01:37:18 PM »
I have lots of apps on my N7.
Wondering how best to treat seldom used apps so as to minimize possible battery drain. cpu performance, N7 start-up time. Should they be (force) stopped, uninstalled until needed, removed from start-up, etc -- or should I just leave them alone? What is the best policy on this? 20
New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Re: Nexus 7 2013 (backup and restore full system and apps)« on: September 28, 2013, 01:39:21 PM »
How about using Google+ for BU&R ? Easy and automatic each time Google synchs. Not sure how effective Restore function is, but GooglePlay and Asus recommend this when doing a "factory reset"

New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Sleep-Wake Mode« on: September 15, 2013, 09:33:01 AM »
Just received a new case (Poetic Slimline) for N7(2013). The case contains an instant sleep-wake feature when cover is closed-open. Very convenient feature, but works reliably only if wifi is enabled upon sleep ?? Anyone know what "wifi-on" has to do with any of this?.
Nice to see that N7 and wifi can hibernate with no appreciable battery discharge (lost 1-2% charge during 12 hour hibernate). 22
New Nexus 7 Accessories (2nd Gen) / Re: Wireless Charger - anybody using« on: September 09, 2013, 01:06:05 PM »
JayJ - just an opinion re: card reader. I'm more interesting in learning why folks find "wireless charging" interesting, appealing.

New Nexus 7 Accessories (2nd Gen) / Why would anyone use a Wireless Charger?« on: September 09, 2013, 08:44:42 AM »
Serious question (not an opinion). I'd really like to know.
Wireless charger takes longer to charge, extra cost accessory, generally unavailable right now - requires an ad hoc solution. (IMHO the $$ Google spent on this feature would have been much better spent on a micro-card reader.) 24

I've heard that this was more prevalent with 16 GB than with 32 GB version. Interested to hear from the 16 GB-ers

New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Re: Pulse notification light?« on: September 01, 2013, 07:25:02 PM »
Light at bottom edge (portrait mode) pulses when notification (like e-mail) occurs AND tablet is in sleep mode. Pulsing stops when tablet is again awake.
Be sure to enable this in Settings/Display 26

Total Space on my 16 GB N7 (2013) with latest JB 4.3.3 installed is 11.94 GB
For what its worth After installing about 30 apps, about 1 GB of music, some photos, some podscats, some data, some downloads I still have about almost 10 GB available 27
New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Native Sound System on Nexus 7« on: August 29, 2013, 08:00:51 PM »
I'd like to know more about the native audio system on Nexus 7.
When I play audio app that does not have its own audio output (like a podcast or text-to-speech app) what controls the qualities of the audio output? Is it Google Play or something else? Is signal equalization or preamp possible, or is my control limited to only to Volume via Settings or rocker-switch. If I install a music player with audio controls (like PowerAmp) is there a way to make this my default audio controller for all Nexus sound? 28
New Nexus 7 General Discussion Topics (2nd Gen) / Re: New nexus 7 rebooting?« on: August 29, 2013, 07:17:06 AM »
I've had a few re-boots with new N7 (16GB)--perhaps once in a week of intense use. Happened when I was "hands-on" with tablet so not sure whether it was hdw, JB, app, or me. Seems to be becoming less frequent over time. In any case, not a problem (for me).

New Nexus 7 Audio/Video Help (2nd Gen) / N7.2 Speakers« on: August 23, 2013, 12:32:45 PM »
Any thoughts on the sound quality from the N7 built-in stereo speakers, when playing music.
Any recommendations on (Play) equalizer settings to get the best sound from these speakers? 30

A well-known incompatibility problem with JB4.3
Developer has a work-around on his web-site. Perhaps this will be resolved in a future JB release.
