Nexus 7 Help / Re: Bookmarks

You mean in a book? Which book reader are you using? You mean in a browser? Which browser are you using? Or do you mean in PDF file? Or something else?

I was expecting my Galaxy S2 to shrink after using the N7. What I wasn't expecting is for this tablet which seems the ideal size in my hands to shrink right down when I put it in the soft (Kindle) sleeve I bought for it.

One second I've got this nice big screen a few inches from my short-sighted eyes, the next it's shrunk down to --dinky. Yes, yes, I know...

Nexus 7 Help / Re: Voice Output??

Go into Google Now by swiping up from just below the Home button then go to the menu (3 vertical dots at bottom-right) and choose Settings. Go into Voice then Speech Output. Set to Always Speak.

You might like to check out the Phone 2 Google Chrome app for sharing links the other way. Should work with any browser from the Share menu item.

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Re: Google Now (what?)

Did you set up the cards?

At the bottom-right of the Google Now page you'll see a menu (3 vertical dots). From this menu, choose Settings then Google Now. At the top-right, make sure Now is switched on. Then go through each card setting it up and making sure the ones you want to see are turned on (switch at top-right, again).

You can also go to Google Maps on your PC's browser to set Home and Work locations. You might also need to go into Settings, Location Services and turn on the top and bottom icons.

Since the tablet only uses WiFi, it might not give results unless you're connected while out and about.

Thanks :)

The feature I'm most looking forward to playing with is Google Now. My guess is that it won't run as well here in the UK as in the States, but I look forward to being proved wrong.

Hi there

My name is Garry and I'm currently waiting for my 16GB Nexus 7 to arrive - aren't we all? :)

I now have a Samsung Galaxy S2 running stock Gingerbread, after running a rooted HTC Desire (LeeDroid ROM) for 2 years. At home I run Kubuntu 12.04, have been running Linux since 1998, and have been a signed-up Google user for many years.

Looking forward to meeting you all and getting into some great discussions in the forums.
