You know you have a hot product when every major retailer that has been selling your device has to post 'Sold Out' and 'Out Of Stock' notices across the nation and even the world. The Nexus 7 has achieved that rarest of feats for consumer products...there's now waiting lists for Nexus 7 tablets at just about every major retailer that had the tablet in stock at launch including GameStop, Office Depot, Staples, Kmart, B&H Photo, MobileCity, Sam's Club and Curry's PC World UK. In fact the only place we know of as of this writing to get a Nexus 7 at all is at
Google's own Google Play store...and that's only if you want the 8GB model. The 16GB model is on backorder with a 'Coming Soon' notice on Google's Play site so if you see one out in the wild...snag it! Of course you can also head on over to EBAY and buy one there from a 3rd party but then you'll probably end up spending between 30%-50% above retail.
This has to be great news for Google as it's really the first runaway hardware hit for the company in the Android tablet space. The company is reportedly scrambling with their hardware partner, Asus to make more devices as quickly as possible so as to take advantage of this momentum and carve a niche out in the tablet world. Many pundits are speculating this might spell the end of the Kindle Fire. Afterall...with the Nexus 7 you can access Amazon's App Store and Kindle App as well as Google's Play market. But with the Kindle Fire you're stuck just with Amazon's offerings unless you root your device.
So there you have it fine Nexus7Forum members. If you have your tablet in hand you're one of a select group of early adopters. Spread the word and make sure all your friends and family order their Nexus 7s for when the next wave of tablets hits the stores...and of course make sure they head on over to Nexus7Forum.com as their Nexus 7 home on the web.
