Expanding storage

Is there any progress on a micro usb memory chip or best way to add storage to the Nexus 7.  Yes, I keep a lot of movies on my tablets.

Your options are, if not rooted, Nexus Media Importer. This will give you access to read files stored on a thumb drive or HDD (for HDD, you will need a powered hub or OTG "Y" lead and power pack because the Nexus does not provide enough power) but atm cannot write to a thumb drive.

If rooted, Stickmount can read and write to a Thumb drive or HDD...

You will need an OTG cable to connect either drive to your N7.

Please search OTG Nexus 7. You will get a wealth of info on the subject. The cable is a couple bucks on eBay. Make sure you get one that is compatible with the N7.

Another option would be something like this: http://www.seagate.com/external-hard-drives/portable-hard-drives/wireless/wireless-plus/.  It's a 1TB external HDD that you can connect to via wifi.

I have a 16GB one of these: http://www.kingston.com/us/usb/wireless/#wid that works well with my N7 but I'm tempted to get the Seagate drive I linked to above.

You can't store things like games on that Kingston drive, can you?  It's only like pics, music, pdf's etc., right?

Good question. I never tried games. I use it for my movies. I am pretty sure you are restricted to streaming and documents with the WiDrive app.

If youre gonna buy a Wi-Drive, why not just setup a shared folder on your pc and connect to it through the Wifi at home?

That will work fine at home but what about when you're out and about?  The wi-drive is small enough to slip into your pocket so it's much easier to take with you than your PC.

Great for backups to your own computer. Playing games may depend on the speed of the wifi the nexus is connecting with.

Having a terabyte or two of game backups, movies, music, and books might be very useful for long car trips or the rv crowd. I've got the Patriot Gauntlet, but I might prefer the newer Seagate. Look for forums to see the quirks and amount of support for these devices.

Question: does a Titanium backup of a game reinstall with the data so that game progress can be resumed?

A solar charger, edible plant database, wild game preparation and recipes, survivalist manuals might appeal to the paranoid among us. Or boy scouts.

Titanium will back up there game progress. But it cannot reinstall the complete game. The OBB folder needs to be manually moved to a backup location or downloaded again. Some of these folders are well above the 1gb mark. Even a Nandroid will not restore the files contained in the OBB folder.

If I read the somewhat terse documentation, owncloud runs on an Apache server.
