Need Book App?

Going on a trip with new N7.  Have Google Play book app that came with N7 and got Kindle app.  Questions. 1) Both screens are very bright white even though I have set Brightness at 25% to save power on long flight.  How do I reduce brightness on these apps? 2: How do I get Kindle app to show me the books that I received from Google Play store?  The Kindle app lets me increase font size and moves the text to the next page vs the Google Play app doesn't let me increase the font size on some books or if I can increase font size, i.e. the Nexus 7 Guide, I have to scroll to see all the text.  Do I need a new book app and if so, how do I get the new app to list the books I have?

Thanks Prime and Tiny, will follow your advice.  Fly tomorrow to France w/o laptop, will rely on N7.
