Possible to add a shortcut to a network place on home screen?
« on: October 25, 2012, 04:28:13 PM »
Does anyone know if it's possible to add a shortcut to a network folder to the home screen? I basically have a folder on my nas that i would like to access from a shortcut on the homescreen. I've tried es file explorer, I could see the network folder, but could not make a shortcut. I could only make a shortcut of a local folder. Any Ideas?

NAS = Network Attached Storage. Basically a storage device that shows as a network drive.
IT Service Professional - I just want a device to be productive.

Network Attached Storage. Can be a dedicated file server connected to lan port on router or as simple as an external hard drive using USB port on router.WiFi gateway is a router.
Drop box is cloud storage and is limited by the IPS bandwidth.

In my case, I get the amazing speeds of 5 mbs  download and 1 mbs upload on uverse.
A nas solution might get >300 mbs u/l and d/l on wifi to local storage. Haven't benchmarked it.

I'm using local storage for backup and streaming movies and MP3s.

Bookmark only seems to work with browser pages. You can add a folder to your network list within es file explorer by long clicking. Solid explorer may be similar with favorites. I think an explorer has to be running to access network, so a home shortcut would need to be a feature of that program.
