Where did it go?
« on: October 28, 2012, 01:25:57 PM »
I used my windows media player to synk several albums of tunes to my new Nexus 7. Windows player says the music is in the 7 but I can't find it anywhere?
Where'd it go?
What am I missing?

Do you have a file explorer?

You could install, Astro File Explorer, Sold Explorer or ES File Explorer and the music should be under this file path...

/storage/sdcard0/Music

Thank you Jay, So do i need to download a file explorer? I just purchased this tablet yesterday. I'm not anxious to load it up with apps that I might not need. or is that silly? I'm clueless.

ES File Explorer ifs one of the most useful apps I have on any of my devices. I would definitely put a file browser on the mandatory apps list!

The stock music player is designed to be Google Play friendly, so download MxPlayer from the Play Store Here and it should find your music transferred to your device by Media Player. One note, if your music is in MP3 format you will have no problems, but if it is in WMA format you will have limited success with playback.

Google's Play Music should find it, although may need a refresh.

I use on my Nexus 7 & S3 for music onboard and stored in Google Music.

Correct, CBers, so can you expand on how you store in Google Music? BTW, this is a great topic for a "Music Transfer Guide", if you will agree to authoring it and letting me post it.

but if it is in WMA format you will have limited success with playback.

I had the same problem as the OP, only one track of an album played , I have just installed that file thingy and am now able to see that the tracks are all installed but are WMA, which begs the question, why will one play and the other 11 won't?
Incidentally, when the albom is opened in the file thingy, and a track is selected to play, the legend "Couldn't play track requested" appears for all tracks, even the one which will play in the Play Music screen.

Google Music is (currently) only available for USA account holders, but can be circumvented.

I'm on holiday at the moment, but could do a write-up when I'm home next week.

A music app like Power amp has really good sound and features and should find your music files for you.
