Switching between home screens not easy
« on: November 02, 2012, 03:15:42 AM »
Before 4.1.2, I was able to switch between home screens by just flicking my finger across the screen, even from the opposite side (when I'm holding it and navigating one handed, with my hand on one side, going back and forth).

Now, I seem to be having no problem one direction (usually towards my hand), but the other direction it will often bounce back and not shift.  I can push it halfway to the next screen and have it bounce back, so I often have to use my other hand to switch screens.

Wow, that sounds lazy of me...but, still, it is aggravating, and I've not been able to find a setting to change this yet.  Anyone else have this problem?  Is there an easy fix?

Oh, it doesn't seem to matter which way I'm going, actually...and it seems rather inconsistent, that it will work fine one moment and the same swipe will just bounce back.

It definitely takes a more pronounced swipe to switch home screens for me versus on a smartphone.

Some basic steps:

1 -  Restart tablet and check for improvement
2 -  Restart in safe mode and check for improvement
3 -  Remove any apps installed right before or right after the 4.1.2 OTA
4 -  Backup data and factory reset

I only use my home screen because I had a hard time remembering what was on pages I couldn't see. I  think I remember before the update that each screen was almost hinged. You had to break past the resistance to go to the next space. It seems to be more of a free scroll now. I also don't recall the little blue scroll marker that is at the bottom now.

I find that if both hands are somewhere near the screen, the home screens will not move as I expect when I try to swipe them.  Using one hand only, everything is fine.  Not what I would call a big problem.

You need to swipe with one hand. It is set up to stop if there is any touch coming from other directions.
