Turning off 3G

I am stunned to hear that you don't have the ability to run straight WiFi right out of the box. If true, That sounds like an irresponsible design. I could be wrong but I still think there has got to be a way without pulling the card or having to use a third party app.

I'd be surprised if the stock Power control widget didn't allow this?

Open app tray, select widgets and find the "Power control" widget.

Me too.

Are you guys saying I can't use wifi w the nexus 7 32mb? I cared mostly for the memory.. Ill send it back.
I want wifi for home and 3G or whatever AT&T is offering for away from home.
My wifi is strong as hell and no way would i find a SIM card sufficient.
Please let me know...
I read it has wifi so I'm confused

Basically if I don't put in a SIM card it should work... On wifi.
iPad w 3G capabilities allow wifi so why not the nexus?

Hi NJ. I love the NJ  shore myself! Avalon,  AC.
I don't own a Nexus with 3G but I know it has Wi-Fi capability. It has been a while since we discussed this but have you not tried to use Wi-Fi yet? Have you tried going into settings and wireless connections at the top? Can you try and sign on to a Wi-Fi account and see what happens when you travel in and out of range. I am hoping that the 3G automatically gives in to a known Wi-Fi connection.
Important!  Please try the power control widget that jayj mentioned.  It is built in to your device.  You should be able to toggle Wi-Fi and 3G off and on I would think.
Happy Holidays
