Yes, the Equalizer is very good. It shows up when tapping the right upper corner and stays on screen until it's closed down.

I'm still having a problem with the audio file extensions....I have converted the audio files to .mp4  but from there I can't change them to  .m4a by renaming them. "ConverterLite" didn't do it after all.....
Are there any other audio file formats that are better for the Nexus7?

I thought mp4 was mpeg video. I think I need to sit back and just learn while this thread flows.
In use the basics..mp3 and flac.

Yes, I have finally figured it out.....mp3 is working very well. It was too late last night after I figured it out to amend my post.
