Duplicate email messages with gmail

I've started getting duplicate e mail messages when using the gmail app on the N7.  I don't get duplicates when using gmail on my PC.  However, I noticed that on the gmail app on the N7 I have an inbox choice as well as a priority inbox choice.  On my PC I just have the inbox choice.  So could the two inbox choices on the N7 be causing me to get duplicate messages?  If so, how can I delete the priority inbox choice on the N7?  Since it's not on the PC I can't delete it from there.

Open Gmail on the Nexus 7 and tap Settings > your email account > remove check from Priority Inbox

I followed the instructions.  The box next to Priority Inbox is not checked.  However, I still have the Priority Inbox showing on the main gmail screen.  Next to my Inbox choice is the number 4, and next to the Priority Inbox choice there is the number 2.  I realize that if I checked the Priority Inbox choice I would make that my default inbox.  So, apparently the Priority Inbox is not the default setting.  What I would like to do is totally delete the Priority Inbox option.  Is there any way to do that?

You have the web version of Gmail configured to show the priority Inbox, so it will have to be changed in the online Gmail configuration, before it will not show on your Nexus 7.

I  made the change in the web gmail and at this time the Priority Inbox choice is not showing up at all on my on my web gmail.  However, it is still showing up on the gmail app on the N7.  Yes, it is hard to believe, but I still can't get rid of the Priority Inbox choice on the N7.

I have the priority inbox, but it doesn't cause issues.  I don't is it, but it's there. It doesn't create duplicate emails in the same box. Emails show up in both in boxes, but if one is deleted the other I is as well.

OK.  Since it's not causing the duplicate messages I will just keep it there.  Thanks for the help.

The only way I get duplicate emails is when I have a mailing list sent with the weekly ad from a company. I get the ad sent to two email addresses, but i have the other email forwarded to my gmail inbox. Do you have any email forwarding? May I ask who the emails are from?
