Has anybody used the version 1.6.2 Toolkit?
« on: January 01, 2013, 01:24:31 PM »
Yesterday I finally decided to take the time and courage to root my N7.
Made the donation and brought everything up to date. This toolkit shows everything in a logical way.  Then I found out that version 1.6.2 is available.  Have downloaded it and entered  the changes of the N7 build. Have also made the back up.
This afternoon I'm planning to finally get the courage to root.  Have not found anybody who has used the new Root Toolkit yet and was wondering if there are any bugs like so often new versions of something have.
I'm still fairly new to Android and if there are any problems with the new version, I would probably not know how to handle it....
Has anybody used v. 1.6.2 yet?

If that's Wug's, then you shouldn't have a problem.

I used it myself, on an earlier version, when I rooted my Nexus 7.

Check out Wug's thread on the XDA forums:

Thanks, CBers.  I have read everything I can about it all incl. the XDA Forum. It's very reassuring.
One final question: If I choose CWM (most likely) or TWRP, can I change this later if I change my mind? Again, thanks for writing.

I used Wugfresh's NRT on both my Nexus 7 & Nexus 4, worked great.
Yes you can change later, I was using TWRP on my Nexus 7 but since flashing CM10.1 I'm using CWM because it's compatible with CM updater...

What jj said. I have flashed multiple custom recoveries on my N7s - TWRP, CWM, CWM Touch.

I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow (49.6 mpg over 38k miles in  Scion xB)

Bird has seen >650 North American bird species
Rooted Nexus 7
49.5 mpg avg for 53k miles in non-hybrid Scion xB
Retired 9 yrs, and loving it

I went to root mine last night with the other program not Wugsthe text based one could be this one and it was telling me to use one superuser over the other not the chainfire one if I was using 4.2 but it didn't say anything about 4.2.1 so when it came to asking me if I was sure I wanted to unlock the bootloader I bottled it and picked no and aborted the process. My concern now is if I use Wugs am I going to be asked that same question and if I choose the wrong one will I brick my tablet.

Paranoid Android, CM10.1, AOKP JB MR1...

All fantastic ROM's with their own path/direction but personally now that Android is maturing I haven't found the need for a permanent custom ROM.

Just my 2 pence...
