They will be deleted automatically after 30 days.

You can delete them now by going to the gmail website and look at the trash folder, I think you then have to transfer them to the Spam folder.  Once in there, you get a chance to fully delete them.

Is there a way to clear your spam folder from the gmail app?

As far as ive read there is no way in the app to manually delete the emails. Ive read that after 30 days like mentioned above they will automatically will be deleted. If you want to delete them go to gmail through a online browser. Once in gmail through a browser go into gmail trash, select the item or items you want to delete, and at top there is a delete forever button and touch it. That should delete the email or emails.

Firstly why do you need them deleted from the trash? They don't do any harm there and aren't synced...

As above you can't delete from the Gmail app but again as above they are deleted after 30 days or as also mentioned above use a browser to access Gmail to delete them.

Don't put them in the spam folder because then Gmail will treat them as Spam...

I tried the suggestion of going to the web site(I used chrome).  It worked powerfully perfectly.
