I see the nexus 7 battery temperature can be monitored on the notification bar. Why? What is a safe range and when to worry?

It's not from the n7 itself.

On my n7 it appears because I installed "notification toggle". I've also seen it as a feature of some other apps. I just wondered why it would be useful to monitor the battery temperature at all.
