Maybe if you can find a Bluetooth or wifi direct one. I have other ideas for you depending your budget though.

You would need an internet connection but an IP camera and an app like IP Camera Viewer would work. A baby monitor might work as well.

Your best bet would be to buy an actual backup camera. I sell campers and we have those as an accessory in the parts department

I guess the car modders using the nexus 7 as a header unit need a camera connection. Like a bluetooth camera powered from the back-up lights. Or a usb cam solution that allows charging. Anyone try an old computer cam to see if it works?

The reason I was looking to use the 7 was because I can run engine diagnostics from the obd2 port as well as hopefully linking a backup camera. I would need to find a way to change from the diagnostic screen to the backup camera when then the car was in reverse.....not too good at troubleshooting computer stuff these days...!!

I can just see a whole freeway full of cars, all with tethered
rear-view cameras !  :o

Wouldn't it be something if one car 'sees' a view
from another car's camera instead of his own rear-view cam...
;D
