Always rebooting
« on: July 28, 2013, 06:23:40 AM »
Hi! Could someone generous help me, PLEASE?
If I have some open pages on chrome and change between them quickly, my nexus 7 reboots...not always but happens constantly, maybe 3 or 4 times a day!
Or, If I have some programs running happens the same... I think that it happens when I try to do something quickly!
Have someone with the same problem?
Thanks. (sorry my English)

Firstly is this the new Nexus 7 (2013) or the original Nexus 7 (2012)?

If the original Nexus 7 then Android 4.2.2 or 4.3??

I'd say to many pages or tabs open along with cached Apps, have you rebooted recently or open recents and clear some apps there...

It's the original nexus with android 4.2.2!
Can I format my nexus without lose my guarantee? And if I can, where can I find the OS 4.2.2? Could be a solution of my problem?

Go to Settings (Swipe down from the top of the right side of the screen), Tap Backup and Reset, Tap Reset Tablet at bottom.

You will be reset to "Factory State" so you will loose all data that is not backed up and it has no effect on your warranty.

If you prefer you can wait until the 4.3 OTA arrives and update your tablet to see if the Chrome problem remains.

I've found RAM can run low on the original Nexus 7, it's only 1GB and with cached apps that does go pretty quick. A simple reboot clears this cached data and might help.
As Prime has said you can factory data reset your device, this will wipe any unsynced data on your device but will also clear any RAM hogging apps.

Another option would be to boot your Nexus 7 into SAFE mode, this will boot the device with only system applications. This could determine if your problem is low RAM or possibly a rogue RAM hogging user app.

To boot to SAFE mode...

Long-press Power button> Long-press Power off> select OK.

Once in SAFE mode try Chrome to see if the problem persists.

Ok thank's for your help! What happened today it was that when I powered on my nexus it restarted. I don't have programs opened because I don't have time to interact with it!

No but Android caches applications automatically and then there's background services and processes, all of which use RAM.

It sounds as though you need to do a factory reset, which can be accomplished from recovery without having access to Android.
