Can't download video from Gallery app
« on: September 24, 2013, 02:22:37 AM »
I have a nexus 2012 with "Gallery" as the stock photo / video app.

It has contains 2 folders:
"General Photos" and "Auto Backup",

each containing pics & videos.

Some of the videos in "Auto Backup" (which play fine in "Gallery") are ones I thought I had lost – they are not in "General Photos".

I want to download them to my PC and can't see how to do this.

When I connect Tablet to PC via USB, I see the "General Photos" in the Nexus Folder but not the "Auto Backup"

Please advise if it is possible in any way to get this folder onto my PC ideally and watch the videos there, ideally without any degradation of video quality.

Auto Backup are photos backed up to Google+, their not physically on your device but "the cloud". Visit G+ from your laptop to access these pictures.

Thanks for the quick response

Having logged on to the home page of Google+, under "Share what's New", I selected "Photos".
Then on the next page I selected "Your Google+ Photos"
This gave me a page containing thumbnails of all my pictures and videos.
I was able to copy these to my PC, but the pictures were only 9kBytes and the videos, a jerky 450Kbytes.
Do they exist anywhere in their original full size and if so, can I then transfer them.
I note that the original material on my Nexus 7 in the "Auto Backup" folder IS full size and the videos perfectly watchable.

Hi J Jay

................having thought more about your reply, if the auto backup file is not physically present on my Nexus, but is in the cloud, then what is the link between the cloud and my Nexus that is allowing me to see it.

If the link is via WiFi, then turning WiFi off would "remove" the auto backup folder. but it doesn't - it's still there and all files are playable.

I'm missing something here
