It's been a few weeks since I've done a game spotlight for Nexus7Forum.com since I've been so busy with the holidays and all. But I just got introduced to this really cool and atmospheric indy titled called 'BADLAND' that I thought deserved it's own spotlight so here we go.
'BADLAND' is one of those cool, eery hard to describe titles that while definitely is in the side scrolling platform genre has a personality and originality uniquely it's own. There's a bit of Tim Burtonesque creepiness to the visuals, which mostly consist of this exotic alien forest inhabited by all kinds of far out and brilliantly conceived creatures, flowers and trees as well as traps, puzzles and obstacles. The gameplay is heavily physics based but is easy to learn and the whole game is filled with gorgeous atmospheric audio to accompany the cool visuals.
'BADLAND' has won all sorts of independent gaming awards from the PAX Indy Game Award 2013 to the Nordic Indie Game Sensation Award to European Game Connection Awards. It has a multiplayer mode as well for up to 4 players to compete in the games 21 different levels. There's also more levels that are scheduled to be introduced soon that will expand the game even further. Overall, if you're a fan of original and independent game titles you should download 'BADLAND' and give it a try. If you're running Android 4.4 it even takes advantage of the new 'immerssive mode' capability to take advantage of the entire screen. 'BADLAND' is free to play but there are ads and optional in-app purchases in the game. It looks absolutely stunning on the Nexus 7's display and it's a lot of fun so definitely check it out this weekend when you have time. Have a great weekend everyone!
