Life expectancy
« on: June 26, 2014, 08:31:43 AM »
How long would a Nexus 7 be expected to last given normal everyday use and excluding software/bug related issues.   Does it have an official mtbf or does anyone have an idea of the % that just fail due to hardware faults.

All opinions welcome.

--Just a wild-ass guess, but I would expect at least 2-3 years before the battery starts giving out. Pace of software + hardware development (and normal wear+tear) will likely have come so far that most of us would prefer to upgrade around that timeframe anyway.

--Of course if you're satisfied with the device and someone gives you the option to replace the battery for say, $40, I think a fair number of people might consider doing that.

I wish that the OP had not reminded me that the original Nexus 7 came out in 2012 and I upgraded to the new version in 2013, and then I realize that it is only 2014.
