The Nexus 7 comes with a power processor in the Nvidia Tegra 3 running at 1.2 GHz, but as some of you know some other more expensive tablets such as Asus's own Transformer Pad Infinity have the same chip running at 1.6GHz. XDA developer
morific doesn't like to be outgunned in the Gigahertz department however and so has developed a version of his 'DerKernel' to run on the Nexus 7. Along with some performance tweaks and optimizations to the governor...which slows or speeds up your tablet for optimum peformance and/or battery life...it enables you to overclock your Nexus 7 Tablet to the aforementioned 1.6GHz.
Featuring:
Build optimizations
Performance through research
Removed wasteful debugging
Scheduler, Governor tweaks
Currently @ 1600MHz
Now in order to install this custom kernel and achieve these blazing speeds you'll have to of course be working with a 'rooted' Nexus 7 but luckily if you haven't seen it yet we provide this
handy step-by-step root guide by our own S. Prime. For those daring souls who are ready to make the leap to hyperspace with their Nexus 7 you can get more info and the kernel download at the link below but please note this is an 'experimental' release so only the most tech savvy should venture forth.
