How do I download music or books to the tablet to be accessed when I'm not online?

Pretty straight forward, connect it to your computer via usb and drog/drop.

Might want to read thru the manual.  Its on pg 69.

Frank's is my method of choice as well, as most of my content does not come from the Google Play Store, but if your content does come from Google Play, then you will need to select the option to download the content for off line viewing.

I'm lazy and am not usually sitting at a computer when I want a file off of it.  I transfer via WIFI with ES File Explorer.

I transfer from any of the computers/drives on my home network.
I transfer with WIFI so I don't have to get up from my easy chair and plug a USB cable into a computer.
The ES file doesn't know.  I do.
Depends what kind of file it is.  I have folders for books, movies, television, etc.
Depends on the app.  Almost all of them have search functions.
