N7 Working OK with Skype ??

Any happy users of Skype video/audio on N7 ?
Heard that there were some initial problems with this.

Any other (free) apps that allow voice calls from N7 to telephone?

The audio works great.  It was more clear for the person I called on the N7 than on a headset on my laptop. Go figure.  I have not tried the video.

We've been using Skype (with video) regularly since getting my Nexus three weeks ago and it works great.
At first I had a problem with the volume being too low to hear during numerous Skype calls.  I then downloaded the "Volume+" app from the Play Store apps and that solved the problem.
Before downloading the Skype app from the Play Store you have to download a camera app since none was included with the Nexus.  I used "Camera".  After 'Camera' is installed you can then download the Skype app.
If you Google "Nexus 7 Skype problems" you should find articles advising what problems people had and how they were overcome.

I follow the how-to-make-skype-video-calls-on-nexus-7 tip, but the skype video is poor.

Video quality is very dependent on both your and the other party's internet connection speed.    Make sure both parties are on a fast connection or it usually won't be very clear.

While it doesn't go to phone, GTalk video calls work great between devices.  I had a conversation with myself between my Bionic and N7.

Not usually, but I was alone and wanted to test Gtalk video chat.  I learned I'm a really boring guy.
