Review of Cases for Nexus 7
« on: August 22, 2012, 05:24:16 PM »
Got my black/black, magnetic catch bookcase from Portenzo today.
The volume control takes an extra second to get to.
The sound chamber, or whatever they call it, does an awesome job in reflecting the sound forward to the user.

Is that like, wood around the outside edge??  Looks like a cool cover, thanks and welcome to the forum.

Yes it is wood, and with rubber on the inside edges to anchor the N7

That's the same case I have.  Do the magnets hold it closed on yours?  Mine doesn't.  Wish I had gotten elastic.

You are welcome.  Please post here how well you like it.  I actually have an OEM Nexus case, but I think I want one that works as a stand, so I may just spring for this myself!  That is, unless I can find something else that I like better.  I think I would like an OtterBox, but I don't think that they make one for the Nexus 7 yet.  It looks like Poetic has several to choose from on their webpage.

I am somewhat tempted by the Poetic Keybook

It does say that it is coming soon!

Otter box is releasing one. You can also go the gumdrop route and save 10 bucks or go even cheaper with a bobjgear case. I love the gumdrop cases but  very intrigued by the otter box. The rubberized texture of the bobj and gumdrop make it difficult to pocket the N7.

So, until the OtterBox is available, is the Gumdrop is currently the most rugged case available?

Yup. They are an outstanding case. I'll probably buy an otter box when they come out though because of the whole rubber not sliding into pocket thing though.

I'm considering the Poetic Hardback... anyone tried it? Reviews are favorable since Poetic fixed the magnet issues...

I just got my Poetic case today and I'm really digging it so far! Adds very little bulk, the cover folds back all the way, none of the glass is covered, it's not leather and comes in colors! All of my preferences nicely accommodated, and it affords a relatively good amount of protection.
