USB Card Reader
« on: September 11, 2012, 03:57:19 AM »
Just got one of these.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007RVM99U/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
It is cheap (and feels cheap) but works fine as a card reader in conjunction with Nexus Media Importer (Read Only - I guess I would need to 'root' if I wanted write access - but as my main reason for getting it was to view photos on my camera memory cards and carry extra media around that is no big issue)

Oh dang!  I didn't even see this post, and just posted a thread asking if anyone had tried any of the micro-usb readers.  Glad to see that someone has confirmed that they (well, one at least!) work - great!

The link above is to Amazon UK; anyone found a similar device from a US source that works with the N7?

No love for compact flash cards, though.   :(

I'll dig one up or find a regular USB connector reader to use with my OTG cable.

Here's my solution.  Wanted as small an option as possible.  The card reader's from DX.com or eBay, can't remember which. I can match it up with a micro SD  card of up to 32GB. Perfect for storing movies or keeping Titanium or Nandroid/TWRP backups on or using with my Eye-fi card to backup my photos directly from my camera :)

Just a suggestion, check out the features of dropbox.  Dropbox will automatically back up your photos when plugged into a PC.  Titanium can also send your backups to your Dropbox.

Here are some REALLY small ones.

I have two of these - http://www.amazon.com/elago-Mobile-microSDHC-Memory-Reader/dp/B002HGFKR8/
They work fine so far, had one come DOA but they replaced it quickly for free.

Ordered 10 of these from Hong Kong - http://dx.com/p/smallest-microsd-transflash-usb-card-reader-with-cover-blue-7134?rt=1&p=2&m=2&r=3&k=1&t=1&s=25558&u=7134

Update 11/2/2012  : received all 10 - all 10 worked fine - they are not as small as the elago - the later is about half as long but @ 65 cents each, I won't complain, LOL.  They probably won't take a lot of abuse - not an issue with me since I take good care of my electronics.

more small ones LOL

Will add an update when they arrive and get tested but for 65 cents each delivered who cares if some don't work.  Check back later...
