Running v 4.4.4 and Nexus is really slowing down. A friend suggested updating operating system and I went to the download of 5.0.2 which keeps appearing on my notifications. Clicked to download it, which it alleges it had done and verified. Clicked on the reboot and install button, countdown starts and then message rebooting and installing appears but nothing else happens. How do I get version to install? Help please. Graham

Nexus 7 Help / OTG cable causing problems« on: December 31, 2015, 04:54:25 AM »
Strange. Just done a factory reset on Nexus 7. Wanted to copy some files to a USB stick so attached my OTG cable at which point Nexus switched off with no warning and refused to switch back on until I attached a power lead, whereupon it rebooted. It still had 90% battery life. Tried attaching OTG cable again and same thing happened. Have used the OTG cable in the past so don't think it's causing the problem. Any other ideas welcome. I could email myself the files I need but would prefer to be able to connect USB to Nexus.
Thanks to all in advance 3
Nexus 7 Help / Re: rotation lock and speed« on: December 09, 2015, 08:54:27 AM »
When I upgraded to os 5.02 my Nex just got slower and slower. I found through the forum a way to revert to v4.4.4 and that cured things.

Thought I might have cured the problem by erasing the system cache, but to no avail.
So still help required. 5

Nexus 7 Help / Email stopped working« on: December 09, 2015, 08:20:44 AM »
As of 24 hours ago I can't access any email properly. If I click on gmail it appears and then within about 3/4 second up comes a box with the message 'unfortunately e mail has stopped'. This message appears about every 30 second whatever else I am doing which is irritating. Email is fine on my PC; so is this a nexus problem? And how do I cure it? Please help.

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Re: Lollipop!.... when?« on: March 09, 2015, 02:38:04 AM »
Installed 5.0.2 when it arrived (previously using 4.4.4) and struggled for the weeks with slow operation, taking up to 30 second to respond to a key press. Frequent crashing and freezing. Eventually reverted to 4.4.4 and much relieved. That took me some time issuing with fresh and lost a lot of info in process... Couldn't use Titanium back up as I wasn't rooted. After this experience I am reluctant to upgrade until a lot of users say 5.0.2 is stable and worthwhile.

Thank you so much. I never thought I would be become a slave to a piece of kit but I almost feel as though I have cut a hand off not having the Nexus around. You are so kind to help. Please bear in my mind that I'm not that computer savvy; simple for me is best.

Nexus 7 Help / Am I rooted? How do I tell?« on: February 06, 2015, 01:27:07 AM »
I wanted to revert to os 4.4.3 as I had installed os 5.0.2 and Nexus ran so slowly and kept freezing. As per forum advice I downloaded wugfresh and after some time finally managed to get things right, (I thought). I now have TWRP showing on the Nexus and 'waiting for your device' on the PC. So which option do I select on Nexus? I don't want to mess things up and I have spent two days at this already and I'm missing my Nexus. Help please.
Finally got through the wugfresh procedure after painful (my fault) process, but having downloaded Titanium to back everything up it says I need to root nexus. Thought I'd done that, but how can I check? 12

Ok. I have rooted Nexus7 (1st Gen) with Wugfresh and flashed v4.4.3 and all seemed to go swimmingly after two or three attempts, but my Nex has now re-booted and all I have is the Google screen logo and a box at the top with "start" in it pointing to the the on button - but you guessed it, I press start and nothing happens. On the PC it does say that my nex is on v4.4.3 which is what I wanted but it would be nice if I could turn it on. Any suggestions?

Nexus 7 Help / os 5.0.2« on: January 26, 2015, 06:03:06 AM »
Installed 5.0.2. about a week ago and now my Nexus is worse than useless. The lag time is around 20 - 30 seconds. how can I go back to previous 0s? Have deleted various recent apps in case they were causing problems but no, it's painfully slow and constantly freezes. Help!
