hi all,
my n7 occasionally plays a warning sound. its kind of like a bong with lots of reverb. there is nothing on the screen regardless of any apps running or if I'm on my home screen. the frequency is not consistant and ranges from almost a day to less then an hour.
there doesn't seem to be any correlation to battery level or any apps that are running of have ran recently. i have gone into settings and turned notifications to off. i am not rooted and am running the standard version of kit kat.
this is driving me nuts! i cant find any log files or any other hint of what the warning is about.

you have a hardware problem and need to get the unit serviced. Your battery is not able to handle the current requirements of basically running you n7 as a space heater. (Not trying to be a smart ass in case it came out that way)

I solved this issue by buying a magnetic case. (I paid 10 bucks, nio tax and free shipping) I was worried that the switch would give out with repeated use. The magnet in the case cover toggles the sleep (screen) function. closed = sleep, open = active

I want to buy a new N7 (32g). Has anyone seen any promo codes or discount codes? I usually buy from newegg but haven't seen any codes. I don't want to buy from anyone that has a presence in nc so I can avoid. the tax. I assume that the new n7s are shipping so I would like to place my order by this evening.

Isn't it ironic that in this modern high tech world this camera issue is like the really old fashion news reporter cameras of the 40s era (?) with the flash bulbs? lol, I'm referring to the fact that their view finder was a metal cross hare system, like a site on a rifle, not optical. I always think of this when in sighting down my nexus and "aiming" at what photo I want to take. Oh well, some things in life make me chuckle

Thanks again for the continued replies of assistance. Iv given up. I can connect with the laptop so I know my share is working (As I said earlier). I going to blame N7 idiosyncrasies and my lack of knowledge to the problem.
By the way, I'm afraid not on the ssid issue. Yes its true, to initially connect a device its often easier to broadcast the ID then to disable it. The N7 will disconnect once you turn iff ssid broadcast. (at least it does with my linksys router). This is actually a known issue which can be verified with a google search.

thanks for the suggestions. I dint want to ease security on my network even further so i might try the suggestions just to experiment. I have the settings fairly tight. I'm already lowering security since this tablet wont connect to a network unless the ssid is broadcast. lol, i guess I should be glad it has more then wep! (said in a sarcastic tone against the tablet security).
thanks also for the second replie although those solutions don't apply. this is an authentication problem. connectivity is fine.

This reply won't help the original poster ( sorry  ) but im hoping it may help someone in this situation with a brother printer. If this applies to you then you might want to check out their web site as they offer a free app. it has been working well so far.

hi all,
I'm wanting to access a shared folder on my pc with this n7. the shared folder is working between the pc and a laptop but I vant access it with this tablet. I have the es file explorer ap.
my tablet os not rooted and is the 16gb version. The error I am getting is "log on failure" I'm stumped.
any ideas please?
