unidentified alert tone. please help as its driving me crazy!

hi all,
my n7 occasionally plays a warning sound.  its kind of like a bong with lots of reverb.  there is nothing on the screen regardless of any apps running or if I'm on my home screen.  the frequency is not consistant and ranges from almost a day to less then an hour.

there doesn't seem to be any correlation to battery level or any apps that are running of have ran recently.  i have gone into settings and turned notifications to off.  i am not rooted and am running the standard version of kit kat.

this is driving me nuts!  i cant find any log files or any other hint of what the warning is about.

Is NFC turned on?

Seems like a notification ringtone, you can turn notifications back on and see if there is accompanying text. Facebook, hangouts, gvoice, VoIP, gmail.

Or go to settings/sounds/tap volume and turn the notification slider all the way down.

hi and thanks for the suggest ion.  no, nfc if off.  bluetooth is also off.

thanks for the tip.  i didnt realize that the sound portion and the text portion were separate items.


by any chance is there a logg portion for the notification system?

Logcat, need root level to access with terminal or logcat reader app.

thanks for the logcat tip.  too bad all of the apps that seam really usefull need root. ohh well. thanks anyway.
