Nexus stutters while playing Riptide
« on: July 24, 2012, 07:42:21 PM »
I've been playing with my Nexus 7 for about 5 days now and this just started happening.  I thought I had too many tasks running so I closed everything, still happening. I rebooted and started playing again but it continued to stutter every 3-4 seconds.  Any thoughts or is this happening to anyone else?

Yes, pausing every few seconds.
Tried uninstall and reinstall
Still doing it so don't bother with that.

Here's what's strange, it is not doing it on my other tab

Don't know what else to do but email developer?

I had installed the app Ultimate Rotation Control which was causing the stuttering.  I uninstalled it and it fixed the problem.

Oh now this is an interesting development!  I think maybe UR might be affecting a few other programs as well.  A pity, since UR is such an excellent app in all other ways!  Maybe the authors can come up with a fix.  I loath to give up my Ultimate Rotation abilities!  Here's hopin'...

That is strange.  Glad I didn't email  dev.  I also wonder about another app messing up.

Glad you caught it!

Got this response on another forum:

I paid the license for Ultimate Rotation Control, was about to uninstall to avoid stutter but...

in the app, you can also edit the settings for each app.
So in order for games not to stutter, you can turn off this app.
Applied settings so this app wouldn't affect Riptide for example, result: no stutter

But still I got the rotation on the homescreens, landscape automatic etc.

So small piece of advice, play around with the settings for each game, homescreens, apps etc to avoid stutter.
It's really not a bad app after all

edit: just switched off (you see a screen with a red cross through in the settings of the app) Ultimate Rotation for all my games, youtube, videoplayers etc.. to avoid the stutter.
When opened in the app (if you switched off Ultimate Rotation for that specific app) you see the icon in your notification bar change to a small screen with cross so you know it's switched off.

Happy camper now  no stutter in games, videos, youtube
