Is a screen protector even warranted?  It has gorilla glass on it so why bother?

I got this case that was originally shown by someone else on this website, very nice find and very nice price.

I put my wife's kindle fire into it to try it out and it is indeed very nice.  I love the handstrap and magnetic seal!!

Screen protectors are an on going debate, but it comes down to preference, as choices are more available we can discuss it in depth.

Doesn't it say "glass by Corning" and not Gorilla Glass?  If not Gorilla Glass hopefully something equivalent - or even better.

I guess i would consider it to keep the actual screen clean.  I have a screen protector on my phone which has gorilla glass for the sole purpose of keeping it clean.

It's actually called Corning 'fit' glass.  I did an article a while back about it.  It is a scratch resistant glass and similar to gorilla glass but apparently not the same thing.

If you buy overseas, not much:

I really like the matte screen for my other tab.  Helps with glare and fingerprints.

The 'Gold Standard' of screen protectors are usually considered to be the 'Invisible Shield by Zagg'.  They are pricey though...usually like $29-$39 depending on the tablet.  They haven't put up on their site one for the Nexus 7 yet...but if we go by the price of their Kindle Fire one they start at $24.99 and go up depending on if you go screen only or full body and some other options.   Frankly, I'm not sure if it's worth it at that price.  Another decent one is 'ArmorSuit' which is more reasonable at $14.95 which gives you lifetime replacements as well.

Of course you can get generic ones for much less all over eBay and Amazon but it's luck of the draw if they're any good.

As for if the Nexus 7 screen can be scratched?  Yes...even Gorilla Glass technically 'can' be scratched so i'm sure this Corning 'Fit' Glass can be too.   The glass is hardened so that it resists most scratches in normal circumstances but let's say you drop the thing or if you happen to have a sharp object hit the screen in just the right way...it can still scratch it.   Now if you keep your tablet in a case normally a screen protector might not be necessary.   If you plan on using it without a case however a screen protector might not be a bad idea.   Also there are some screen films/protectors that are anti-glare in case you don't want that reflective screen so that's another use scenario.

A keyboard and mouse for sure, and hopefully I can find a case with this built in.  I'll buy a dock only if someone finds a way to add HDMI out through the dock pins.

Best buy tends to be way overpriced, gives you a real hard time on returns.  Their house brand is dynex, recently, I looked at an sd reader that was a $30 part, that was 1 on meritline and others.  They also kill you on cables.  If you need cables - monoprice is excellent.
