I received the update notification as well and elected to wait on the installing until I had computer access, as JayJ noted and can confirm that you will not retain root, as posted by bjs229. So thanks for the heads-up, guys. If you are rooted download Mark Skippens Universal Toolkit "Here" or use WugFresh's, equally good toolkit and restore root. (Option 4 in the Skippen Toolkit) I do apologize for not having more information on the WugFresh option, as I donate to both developers, but since I used Mark's toolkit, I cannot verify that it works. Hopefully someone else will verify that the WugFresh toolkit restores root. Notably, I have upgraded on the Nexus 7 2012 and 2013 and restored root, without issues.

I am unable to create a new post, can't find the "new post" button
Anyway, Kitkat 4.4 just have another update to Build number KRT16S.
I updated it tru OTA System update, very fast update with my unlock and rooted N7
I lost root so I use Wugfresh to re-root it. In the process I forgot to click on custom recovery so I lost Super SU too. Reinstall Super SU through play google store and all is well
MX Player can not play my video (avi) files in H/W mode (it has audio but no video}. The S/W mode plays both video and audio
Dice Player works fine
=======
Mods, please double check on the "New Post" button

dominic, I am guessing that you are using Tapatalk, if so tap the icon at the top left of the screen and select browse and select the area in which you would like to create a new topic, once you reach the topic level you will see a pen appear at the top of the screen, which you can tap and create your new topic. If you are using a web browser, click on the "Forums" tab and and select the area for a new topic and you will have the option to create one.

Factory reset would have fixed it, but I was too lazy.

The initial rollout revealed a problem with encrypted devices, so that rollout was halted and a new one started. My ota went straight to krt16s. The earlier otas had 2 updates. Patience.

Okay so as my Nexus 5 arrived Wednesday I kinda forgot about the update. Finally got around to updating and obviously lost root.
I saw no point in fully re-rooting so instead I elected to flash TWRP recovery with Wugfresh's NRT and then manually flash SuperSU 1.75 zip through TWRP. I'm now fully rooted again. :D

Just tried add sideload ota.zip on my Nexus 4 via stock recovery, but it failed with "status 7".

Any ideas?

Had to flash 4.4 onto my Nexus 4 as nothing good would work.

Now I have the 4.4.1 OTA on my Nexus 10 and it failed via TWRP so not sure how to proceed now.

I assume my Nexus 5 will get it soon also, so need advice for both.

I'm considering unrooting all devices so as not to have to keep reinstalling everytime.

I thought rooting made life easier ;)

I made a habit of making a nandroid of a rooted stock ROM immediately after update without installing any apps. For instance, right out of the box, unlock bootloader, custom recovery, root, nandroid. No apps installed, only Google login. Next time there is an update, restore this nandroid. Update and then immediately back up again. Restore apps with titanium. This preserves the ROM from any adulterations. Easy update at any time!
