Has anyone else noticed a problem I am having with email. My primary email account (Virgin Media)has a habit of deleting the first email before I get a chance to read it. Also it does not appear in deleted emails.It can happen either from the notification drop-down screen, or within the email application. If it keeps doing this I will have to stop using it for email as I dont know which ones are being deleted.

P.S. I have not noticed the same problem with the gmail account.

I don't have these problems with the stock email client, running four email accounts through the app too and including a Virgin Media account.

Are you using IMAP or POP3?

I have the same problem except in the native e-mail client they either don't appear or appear for just a flash. In the three buttons there is no sync option nor data amount or time option.

I have checked sync all. Nowhere is there a sync setting for e-mail.

This is weird as this is my 2nd n7 and is my wife's while my n7 has no problem.

I get sync disabled when I try to fetch mail manually. Help please.

The stock email client only polls for mail which means it sends a request to the server to check for mail at the stipulated time intervals, on the other hand the Gmail app pushes for mail which is what your referring to as sync and receives mail as soon as they are received by the server.

I'm not sure what would cause this, as I said above I do not have this problems with any of my four email account all polled through the stock email client.

Have you double checked your account settings? Or as Prime suggested above you could try an alternative email client, there several on Google Play. I did use K9 on my previous Android phone because the stock client was so terrible but I actually like the vanilla Android email app.

I would suggest that you go to "Settings" then "Accounts" and verify that your email client is listed. Then tap the email client in that list and make sure sync is enabled.
 If the email client is not listed tap add and select your email client and set it to sync.

Thanks for the replies. I have deleted the account, reestablished the account, tried K-9 which I use on My other N7 and nothing seems to work. All client settings are the same on both N7s. I am now in trouble with the wife as that's her N7 that is acting up and I'm supposed to be the IT guy in the house.

Last resort but you try a factory data reset, will wipe the whole of your device (or the wife's) but could resolve your problem.

Thanks JayJ. The computer fairy visited and all of a sudden it has been working. I started getting notification of e-mail and there they were.

I am serious.
