As many of you know in order to keep the cost of the Nexus 7 down to $199 8GB/$249 16GB they had to make a few sacrifices with the hardware. We generally think they chose the right priorities in giving us a Tegra 3 and IPS screen among other goodies but one of the things that didn't make the cut was a rear camera, although they did include a 1.3mp front camera for video chatting via Skype or Gchat among others.
But what if you want to use that front camera to snap a photo let's say to upload to your instagram or Facebook account? Well Google didn't include a dedicated camera app in the pre-installed software for the Nexus 7 figuring you wouldn't use the front camera for that but thanks to developer Paul O'Brien now you have that option. Paul has just uploaded a simple and straightforward free dedicated camera app onto the Google Play site at the link below. It's a standard app so you don't need any kind of root access or anything...you just install the app. It let's you take both still pictures and video so it's a welcome addition. Thanks Paul!
