Awesome, I wonder if we will see it in Canada soon, or if we will have to wait a couple of weeks?

Neat. Thanks for the links. Do I need to have a rooted phone to install that file?

Yes. You should receive an OTA update for non-rooted devices.

Fairly easy, especially with the toolkits about now.

Yes.
Downloaded, rebooted into TWRP and selected the zip file to install.
Then, once it booted back up, I restored root in Voodoo Root Keeper and ran SuperSU which reinstalled itself.
Did the same on my Nexus 10.

I sideloaded it too on my N7 but from another source, downloaded and flashed with CWM. No need for Voodoo with CWM because CMW protects su and custom recovery...

You made it sound easy but for a newbie ( since Agust 12), I still need some help on the following
Downloaded the new firmware. Where to copy the new firmware to ? which directory on the Nexus? or to an external SD ?
Rebooted into TWRP ( How to reboot using which app ?) to enable selection of the selected the zip file to install.
Then, once it booted back up.. (does it automatically reboot by itself after the selection and installation of the new firmware in zip file)
I restored root in Voodoo Root Keeper ( Do I need to run Voodoo Root Keeper to save the rooted file first before restoring)
Since Super SU is already on the Nexus 7 so all I need is to run SuperSU which reinstalled itself
Thanks for spoon-fed this newbie.
I am sure others may find it useful also

Apart from the Wi-Fi dropping that people have reported which personally I've not experienced on two Nexus 7's or my Nexus 4, I don't think the Nexus 4 has bugs that the other Nexus devices had/have?
BT is rumoured to be flakey on the N4 but again I've not experienced this...
Maybe the late arrival of the Nexus 4 update is connected to the missing factory image that only recently reappeared back on the Goggle developers page??

Download wherever you want.
When in TWRP, you just navigate to the folder and select the zip file.
Once installed, just press reboot system and if will go through it normal post-upgrade routine then present the lock screen, normally after 2-3 minutes.

Can you add more on how to recover the rooted (file ?) using Voodoo Root Keeper

If you have it installed, make sure all 4 items are ticked before installing the OTA:
Once rebooted, I ran VRK but only 2 ticks were there, so I selected RESTORE ROOT. I then had 3 ticks.
I then ran SuperSU which reinstalled itself and then on opening VRK again, the 4th tick appeared.
Hope this makes sense.

I downloaded Goo Manager which allowed me to install openrecoveryscript (TWRP 2.4.1)
How do I open TWRP to navigate and select the new rom (4.2.2) file ?
Cab I use goo Manager to flash the new rom file instead ?

Yes. You can use Goo. Follow the install and it will lead you to your recovery. Install the zip from recovery.

I always keep a Nandroid of a clean install of the latest update. I just restore the Nandroid, then proceed with the update file in recovery. Removes most of the hiccups. I use titanium for the rest. My Nandroid contains no apps or mods, just what necessary for a smooth update.

I have read its just minor tweaks to BT and other behind the scenes stuff. Miracast would be amazing but I think they are saving it for KLP.

I don't think we'll ever see Miracast on the N7, yes the N7 has Wi-Fi direct and the Tegra 3 supports Miracast but does the rest of the Nexus 7? People are having a hard enough time getting it to work on the N4...
As for JDQ39, it's primarily a bug fix release but does include some new features...
Security for ADB connection, when connecting for the first time you will be promoted to allow connection. This will create a USB Debugging Whitelist but only applies to locked bootloaders, if you have an unlocked bootloader and somebody steals your phone with ADB knowledge they can pull your data...
App download notification tweaks, the progress bar will now include a percentage and estimate time of completion.
Quick settings, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can now be toggled on and off with a longpress of the tile.
New sounds for Wireless charging, there was no sound before. (Obviously this is Nexus 4). A new low battery warning sound.
Removed option to show All Calls in phone app's call list.
New Gallery animations...
Improved battery life for Nexus 7???
This isn't confirmed but Google have updated the Play Store Nexus 7 product page, estimated battery life did read ”Up to 8 hours of active use" and now reads " Up to 10 hours of active use"...
Speculation of course but is this 4.2.2 at work??
So these are the new additions, what are the bug fixes??

Quick note: If you have SuperSU, you don't need Voodoo root keeper for this upgrade. In SuperSU settings, check the Survival Mode box. After loading the patch, re-open SuperSU, go to settings and uncheck "Enable SuperSU" and then re-check it. Some apps will need to re-request Superuser access (Seeder for one). Others just work.

There are some improvements to location sync updates and code efficiencies that should improve battery life. Also the mediascanner bugs.
I've noticed a big difference in battery time unchecking those options in google now, currents, and local.
Trying to make sense of the changelog, I have to write down all the issues numbers and cross reference to the android open handset alliance page to see what's going on. Since I'm extremely lazy, I'll wait for the android police translations.

I've uninstalled a pile of stock apps so its not really working for me.
-
Its not a good idea to uninstall applications on a Nexus device because of the way OTA updates work, checking that the system hasn't been compromised. The best thing is to Disable them from Apps in settings, this way the apps are still there and the update will take.
If you want to update, you'll either have to find copies of those apps and reinstall them or flash the factory image...
What apps have you uninstalled NordieBoy?

Have you gotten the update again when rebooting? If so why is it failing? Are you getting an error message? Are you rooted? If you haven't gotten the update again you might try and force it using the Google framework trick. Google framework is in settings /apps /all section. Clear the data and then quickly move to about tablet in settings and update device. The update should then appear. You might have to try it a couple times. If no dice we need to dive in further.

Finally got updated. I was getting an assert/debuggerd error. I replaced my debuggerd file with a fixed one I found on X@A and flashed the update no problem. That is the same error I had. http://db.tt/6LKLC42T (http://db.tt/6LKLC42T)download the file from my dropbox
Extract the file from the zip and replace the debuggerd file which is in your system/bin folder. You will then be able to update.
Meaning ..take the new debuggerd file in the zip and paste it into the folder where the other one is. If there is a backup debuggerd file delete it as well. That is what I had to do. After the update, You will lose root but just use rootkeeper and update your SU binary files.

If you have any questions or uncertainty please let me or us know. You need to get into your system /bin files to accomplish this. I believe you need to be rooted and have a file explorer in place that you are comfortable using. Please do not go on unless comfortable with the instruction..

I really appreciate for your efforts to help me
I got the file and was about to replace it as you suggested
I was about to plug the N7 to the PC and delete the old & back up file in the bin folder ( I saw it using File Manager ) copy the new unzip file to the bin directory
I encounter another problem, I can not see the N7 on my PC as a driveeven though i see the Nexus 7 in Device Manager,
I then use drop box to transfer the new file to N7 but do not know how to copy it to the bin directory so I am stuck again
I try to use ES File explorer but it can neither locate the bin nor dropbox directory for me to delete the old debuggerd and copy the new file
Still trying to figure this out
Thanks again
LOL

you don't need the computer. Use your file explorer app on the nexus. You need to get into your root files. SYSTEM folder then the bin follder. Replace the file I gave you with the one in the bin folder. If there are two in your bin delete them.

I see the two files (including back up) in the bin
But still try to learn how to delete & copy the new file
I have File manager HD and ES Explorer and do not know how to use it yet, still trying
What " file explorer app on the nexus" that you refer to
Sorry that I ask for too much but I do not know these answers still learning the hard way
Take Care

Yes yes... ES should be fine. Navigate to System / Bin. You are in system bin? Copy and paste the file into that folder.. it should tell you there is also a file by that name.. just go with it and replace it. If there is a copy of the debuggerd file like I had long press on it till the menu comes up and delete it.
After that force the update or flash the update and you should be golden. Don't forget that you will have to reestablish root withr rootkeeper or in some cases SU if applicable. I don't want to confuse you.. let's just get updated and cross the next bridge when it comes.
As far as finding the file download the dropbox and extract it somewhere you will Remember. Move the file by long pressing and using the menu..
The system bin file is in your root directories not your SD....
I see what you mean with ES I can't find the system folders either. Try Root explorer or Solid Explorer.
I found it on ES.. hit favorites and the little phone icon. That will get you there
Real easy when in ES hold the file till menu.. select move.. choose the little phone icon and choose system. BIN. DELETE the copy. Your there. If you continue to struggle I can give you my phone number and I will try and walk you thru it. Seems that there aren't many of us with this same issue.

So, how is Bluetooth working for you folks on 4.2.2?
I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow (49.6 mpg over 38k miles in Scion xB)

I Got It Updated to 4.2.2 Yeahhhhhhh :-*
Many Thanks to all who share their expertise and experience
Specially bj who spoon-fed this newbie (Merci Beaucoup)
Following bj advise I download the new debuggerd file and transfer it to my dowload directory on N7
bj also show me how to use Solid Explorer to delete the debuggerd backup file. I copy the new file and overwrite the old debuggerd in the bin directory.
Clear data and force stop Google Framework services
Go to system update in Settings and get it updated
Please Note that this procedure that works for me because I have an error in the debuggerd file.
I am not sure if it is applicable to others.

A "Thumbs Up" to Barry from me.

I'd do it, too, if Tapatalk supported it .
I thought 4.2.2 was supposed to fix the Bluetooth bug, but it made my Bluetooth worse. I had to install a patch to repair it. To be fair, it may have been PA 3.00 causing the BT problem, & not 4.2.2.

I installed the update via ota, yet my android version is still in 4.2.1. I tried cchecking for system update but the system says that i am up to date. Btw, my nexus is rooted.
How do I know if I am really on 4.2.2 now?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
if you rebooted and still showing. 2.1 the update failed.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Thanks, so what do I need to do?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Have you gotten the update again when rebooting? If so why is it failing? Are you getting an error message? Are you rooted? If you haven't gotten the update again you might try and force it using the Google framework trick. Google framework is in settings /apps /all section. Clear the data and then quickly move to about tablet in settings and update device. The update should then appear. You might have to try it a couple times. If no dice we need to dive in further.
Still didn't receive any update after restarting. Also tried the framework trick but still no dice. Looks like my ota update failed. Can you advise what trick :-D or procedure should I do next? Thanks.

ramordep,
You're rooted, so just download the zip file in post #5 of this thread, and flash it with your custom recovery.

@ramordep
If you need guidance with flashing the zip in recovery.. let us know. Also be sure to have protection so you don't lose root.

Got it, will download the necessary utility apps before I proceed with flashing. Btw, any feedback on battery life at 4.2.2?

I saw in another post your error message. It looks to me that you froze the facelock in titanium. The update is failing because of that.

Hello wpd,
I am getting the same error with some of my apps. Right now "Movies by Flixster" and "Ebay" refuses to update, and I get the same error. However I've updated a bunch of other apps since 4.2.2 no problem. It's just this one that refuses to update.

Tried this, and it did not work.
I also tried a hard reset. Thanks though!

Did you.try deleting your.account off.the nexus.ans.reinstalling? I guess that is as good as a factory reset. How about updating on the computer? Does that work?

Lots of excitment surrounding 4.2.2
Just loaded this onto my N7. Some new interface features, but doesn't seem all that different than 4.2.1
Anyone seeing a "real" benefit in 4.2.2 ?
-
The biggest benefit besides Bluetooth fixes is all behind the scenes. The update included changes that are supposed to increase battery life by over ten percent. I'd say that's definitely a "real" benefit.

Thumbs Up to loocid for noting the benefits ...... I will have to agree that my battery life has improved on my Nexus 7 and 10 after 4.2.2.
