I have to reboot daily. It degrades after several hours use. Gotta be a memory leak. I have pretty much given up using my N7 1st gen in favor of my linux laptop or my 1st gen Moto G. The Moto G is twice as fast as the N7.

As an alternative, you can bypass the upgrade issues by using WugFresh's Nexus Root Toolkit to install the factory image for the latest version of Android, 5.0.2, and save yourself some headaches.

I applied the update last night. All worked well though I will have to get re-rooted again via Wugfresh. The update removed root from my Nexus 7 (2012). One of these days I will learn how to recover gracefully from these updates. I have backups from Titanium Plus in Dropbox but can never seem to restore them. Takes me 1/2 a day to manually restore after an android update. On the plus side it makes me review the apps I have.

Tunein Pro is definitely not a rogue app. I use it on my Nexus 4, Nexus 7 2012 and Nexus 7 2013... With no problems...
Try uninstalling the app and reinstalling. Do this...
Settings> Apps> scroll down to Tunein Pro and select> Clear data> Uninstall.
Now reinstall and set it up again.
EDIT- You are pressing "stop" at the bottom before exiting the application aren't you?

JayJ, Thanks for this solution. It seems to have worked as Tunein Radio Pro is no longer misbehaving. I will send your solution to Tunein Radio since I asked them for help as well. It could help someone else if they put it on their FAQ. I have Tunein Radio Pro installed on my Nook Color Tablet, an HTC Incredible, and a Motorola Droid X all running Gingerbread. None of these have misbehaved. On my Nexus 7 Tunein Radio Pro has always misbehaved on the JellyBean versions (4.1, 4.2, and 4.3). I wonder if the need to clear , uninstall, then reinstall to fix Tunein Radio Pro is a JellyBean issue , a Nexus 7 issue or something else. Any ideas? I have not had to do this with any other software on any of these devices. Thanks again for the help. This forum is great and people have helped me several times.

Tunein Radio Pro keeps turning itself on. Last night before going to sleep I went to Settings>Apps and forced Tunein Radio Pro to stop. I then went to Mantano Reader to read a book. When I get sleep I simply close the cover and the magnet puts the device to sleep. At 1:30am Tunein came back on. I turned the volume down and thought I paused it (3/4 asleep). When I woke up this morning the battery was drained completely and is slow to recharge. This has happened 2 other times in the last year, and I have not yet found a way to keep Tunein from starting itself. Tunein usually turns itself on several times a day everyday but without the severe battery drain. Is there an app available to control rogue apps like Tunein? Others have complained about this in reviewing Tunein Radio Pro, but I have not seen any solutions offered. There do not seem to be any alternative apps that do quite what Tunein does. I use it a lot and would like to get this fixed. The draining of the battery is especially disturbing. Please give me some suggestions to fix this.
I am running Android 4.3 rooted on a 2012 Nexus 7 (16GB). Recharging for 2 hours now and still do not have enough battery to reboot.

In Terminal Emulator:
'cd /system/app'
'ls > /sdcard/airdroid/upload/list_apps.txt'
works. I simply had to create list_appts.txt outside of Terminal Emulator. It would not let me create a new file.
I created the file on linux and downloaded it via AirDroid, ran Terminal Emulator to pipe the output to list_apps.txt, then used AirDroid to pass the file back up to linux. Maybe someone else has a better way to move things around than this.
Edit: In typical linux fashion the above solution is only partial as some apps are stored in directories other than /system/app. So my search goes on. Any help/advice/insights would be appreciated.

I have a rooted Nexus 7 running Android 4.2.1. I want to create a list of my apps to send as an email attachment to a friend.
Can someone tell me how to create such a list? I cannot even figure out where the list of apps is stored.
I have Terminal Emulator installed so I should be able to 'cd' to the proper directory, issue 'ls > list_of_apps.txt', then use AirDroid to transfer list_of_apps.txt to my laptop to send the file as an email attachment. Maybe someone has a simpler method. All I want is the list of installed apps that Google Play Store brings up stored as a file I can email.
I have a tendency to make things more complicated than need be. My apologies in advance (AIA?). Any help would be appreciated. I am running Linux Mint 13 KDE (or Windows 7 when absolutely required) on my laptop.

On my N7 16GB I made the move back to 4.1.2 unrooted from 4.1.2 rooted so I could upgrade up to 4.2, and then re-rooted on 4.2. I have no issues that have not been or are not being fixed on 4.2.
I have asked myself "What would you do if this tablet broke somehow or was stolen, etc?" Answer: I would get another 16GB N7 right away-no hesitation. They are that good.

The bottom line of this is "Does 4.2 do more harm than good?". I haven't heard all that much regarding benefits of this upgrade.
While I'll probably not be affected by the problems cited (so far) I'm wondering if I should wait a while before updating to 4.2 ?
My current OS 4.1.2 is running just fine!

I will wait a bit. I got the OTA 4.2 update yesterday. It did not install b/c I am rooted (happily) on 4.1.2. I dinked with Wug Fresh 1.5.5 tool kit and decided to wait for his soon to come 1.6 version. Those developers do a good job of sorting things out for us rookies. On the down side you learn less when you stay away from the bleeding edge. For me with 4.2 the benefits of the new features do not outweigh potential negatives of stickmount not working, wifi/bluetooth irregularities and other possible issues. I like to stay current, but this time I will sit in the pocket for awhile. I appreciate the work others are doing here fixing things and identifying problems as well as new features.

I thought SuperSU updates the binaries automatically?
When I went from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 with WF 1.5.5 last week I had to uninstall and reinstall SuperSU to get the binary update offer. May help here. I am watching how this plays out in 4.2. Fair winds...

Even with offline maps saved you still need a data connection in order to have the route calculated.
Was not aware of that. I thought that once it was saved you could use it while in the area. What is the use of having it then?
The off–line maps are still available inside the Google maps app and are can even be used by other apps.
I have downloaded maps viz a viz "Google Navigate to xyz". Once underway I am without an internet connection in my vehicle. I have tried to trick her by taking short cuts, but she always catches back up to me as I near my destination. So I am not as clever as I thought. Pretty nice program. One time I did say "Navigate to Spokane International Airport" and she tried to route me to someplace just south of Kelowna, BC. That may have been revenge for my past misdeeds.

I would have one already if I could use it with my existing carrier. I have Verizon though, so its a no go until I'm out of contract. I'm hoping a Nexus device is released for CDMA/LTE.
Many of us are locked in to using Verizon simply because of coverage issues. Google will sell a lot more N4's if they get that resolved either with Verizon or by making a version that works with Verizon. In the meantime many of us will just wait and watch.

After the automated process, you have to update the SU binaries by opening the SuperSU app. Then install busybox with the installed app.
That is the next step, but if you do not achieve root SuperSU and busybox will not allow you to install. I ran thru this procedure 6 or 7 times with no success.
If you end up with those two programs on the tablet I thought that was part of the root process. What happens when you install busy box or try? What is the error message?
Answer: Those 2 programs were on my rooted tablet under 4.1.1 and stayed there. Busybox failed b/c I was not rooted. Update: Now as of this afternoon I am now rooted under 4.1.2. I noticed WugFresh had put a new version (1.5.5) out so I switched over to Windows 7 from Linux Mint 13, downloaded and unzipped the zip file and ran the ROOT option of the tool kit. I was already unlocked Ran SuperSU (was not asked about the binaries). Ran busybox and it worked (installed). I went back and uninstalled SuperSU and reinstalled it (and was prompted to update the binaries) . I am now rooted again thanks to WugFresh and all his coding efforts. This post is about a 32GB Nexus 7 and mine is a first round Nexus 7 16GB. I suspect WugFresh tool kit will work on either device and suggest people be directed to the new version. WugFresh must have made numerous discoveries as he fixed things. Thanks again. I will try to change the subject title to solved. In my case it is.
