Ok, I've installed the auto rotation app and it looks like it is all working, but I still can't get the device into landscape mode.

Thanks for the replies!
I am skeptical of it being an internal connection since it worked perfectly up till the upgrade happened. Since posting this I have been able to make it go landscape once right after I rebooted the device, but it was short lived and only the one time. It kind of sucks that I have to add, much less purchase, an app to make this work since it is an integral part of the device, but I am desperate so I will give it a try. 4
New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Upgrade to Android 6.0 done and now my screen won't rotate?« on: November 06, 2015, 12:43:21 AM »
Hi,
My Nexus 7 did an upgrade a couple of days ago to the version 6.0, and afterwards it won't rotate the screen anymore. I never use my tablet in the portrait mode, I always use it in the landscape mode, I haven't found any cases for it that will support it in the portrait position and I like to set it on the table or bed or whatever, so I need it to be landscape. On top of that, it will only show in the portrait mode with the power connector on the bottom, so if i use an external stand or lean it against something, i can't do it with the power cord connected. This is very irritating, does anyone know of a way to make this work? Yes, I've checked and even turned on and off the auto-rotate. It makes no difference. I've also tried rebooting the device, to no avail. 5
New Nexus 7 General Discussion Topics (2nd Gen) / Is it possible to rollback to Android 4.x.x?« on: December 17, 2014, 02:48:48 PM »
My Nexus 7 upgraded to Android 5 a couple of days ago, and I have to say, I am not happy. I don't like it, and on top of that, it is very buggy and I want to get rid of it. Is it possible to roll it back to where it was a few days ago before it did the automatic update?

Nexus 7 Help / Re: How to keep embedded pics in music from showing up in gallery?« on: January 09, 2014, 09:07:13 PM »
I remember how I got the reading apps to stop that, they did indeed have additional art files and I simply had to strip each of my books of that art before I added them to the tablet.

Now that I think about it, when I first bought these Nexus 7's, the cover art for my books in my kindle and mood reader apps used to show up in the gallery as well, and somehow I was able to get that to stop, but it was over a year ago and I don't remember how I accomplished that. It wouldn't even be a big deal if they would lump under one album, but they don't. They each show up as an album in their own right. How could any software engineer think this was a good idea?

No, I am not talking about a separate cover file, I am talking about the album art frequently being embedded in the actual mp3 somehow. So if I add 100 songs on a playlist, I get a 100 new fricking pictures in my gallery, it is very irritating. If they are not embedded in the actual mp3 file, then the additional art files must be invisible in someway. Or maybe the gallery is automatically going out on the internet and finding the art because the song has been added to the music folder. I want to know how to stop this from happening.

Nexus 7 Help / How do I get rid of Picasa pictures?« on: January 09, 2014, 05:51:45 AM »
Hi,
My son was playing with my Nexus 7 a couple of weeks ago, and now I have about 100 ross lynch pictures in my gallery that I can't get rid of. I can't find them no matter how I search, but I have noticed that they have a little picasa icon on them. I don't use and have never had picasa, and it doesn't appear to be on my device, and yet, here are all these stupid pictures. Can anyone help me get rid of these things? 11
Nexus 7 Help / Re: Google maps not working on GPS alone?« on: December 11, 2013, 06:29:48 PM »
That actually makes sense, thanks! Now I guess I just have to find that power widget.
A related question, my gps test seems to find satellites indoors, how is this possible? Even in windowless rooms. I wouldn't think the signal would be strong enough from a satellite to be detectable through walls. 12
Nexus 7 Help / Google maps not working on GPS alone?« on: December 11, 2013, 05:32:56 AM »
When I am not connected to a Wifi, and open my google maps, it won't show my location and gives me a message saying there is no network connection.
I go to my GPS test, and it sees many satellites at good strength and seems to be working. Why can't I get the google maps to work off the gps satellites alone? Is this right or am I doing something wrong? Also, I can't find any way to turn the GPS function on or off or see a status on it at all other than using the GPS Test app I downloaded from google play. Is this the way it is supposed to be or am I somehow looking in the wrong place? I would appreciate any insight any of you may have! :-) 13

My first gen Nexus 7 is upgrading from whatever it upgraded to last time, to Android 4.4. Since this is all automatic and I don't keep up like I should, I am wondering. What will this upgrade give me that I didn't have before?
