Nexus 7 Games / Two player games
« on: December 04, 2012, 12:36:45 PM »
My wife and I have our his and her Nexus now and we'd like to be able to play games against each other. Not so much racing games but more like boardgames. Can anyone recommend a few games that we can play against each other on our tablets? Something more than Monopoly.

Nexus 7 Accessories / How are the Moku cases?
« on: December 02, 2012, 01:34:06 AM »
My wife and I seem to be having the worst luck with cases. I have to admit we went the discount route but we're finally going to simply get a nice well made case and stop being...cheapskates.

We've looking at the Moku cases on Amazon. The reviews are great but it looks weird to be honest with those claws. How do those hold up and how is the Moku at protecting the Nexus?

If this is like my wife's Kindle cover (and it looks to be) it's well cushioned on the inside. My wife Kindle cover is fantastic in this reguard.

The bad part will be the cover will cover and thus muffle the speaker and the power button will be a little difficult to get to but mostly these covers will be for when we travel or take them somewhere. My wife has a trip coming up and she'll be taking it in her purse. For home use we'll likely get different covers since we pretty much just use them in the bedroom at home where there is little risk of hard falls.

Talked her out of the lanyard idea and found her a hard case very similar to the one on her Kindle. The on/off button is going to be a little difficult to get to but the case she has her Kindle in you could just about throw the thing off a building and not hurt the tablet. The cover folds back so you can hold it very easy.

My wife uses her Kindle a LOT. She reads it on break and lunch at work. She's the most avid reader I have ever known and she twice dropped her Kindle in a cover that we weren't really confident in. So we got her an EVA hard case for it. She's dropped it several times with no effect because the EVA is a hard case and the Kindle is held in by bungies on all 4 corners holding it in place and not blocking the screen or the buttons.

I would get her another EVA but it looks like they changed the design. The bungie on the Nexus models goes across the middle basically across the screen. No idea why they made that change because now you have to take your Nexus out of the cover to use it where as with her Kindle she could read it while it was held in the case.

Nexus 7 Accessories / Case with a lanyard?

Ok, looking around tonight online for cases for our new N7s. My wife has an unusual preference. She's looking for a case with a lanyard she can hook around her wrist. She has very small hands and tends to drop things so she's super paranoid about the Nexus. For myself I'm happy with something that protects the corners really well (I haven't gotten one for my own N7 yet) but she wants something she can literally hook to her wrist.

I know someone is going to recommend the Gumdrop cases but at $50 she didn't like that idea. It needs to be a lanyard or something that has good protection around the corners. Figure $20-$25 price range would be acceptable.

Nexus 7 Ordering and Shipping / Re: Where to buy N7 ?

Our local Gamestop is sold out.

Walmart was doing their specials at 8 and 10 so I thought if I went around 8:30 it might be manageable. Took a little bit to find a parking spot but once I was in there were only 4 people in line at the electronics counter. I was in and had my N7s in 10 minutes no trouble. I did a bit of general shopping as well for a few things we needed and went to check out in the front where there was no wait because of all the cashiers who mostly were standing there with no people to check out. People were lined up for the TV and a few other doorcrasher items at 10 o'clock and the line went down one of the main aisles and around the back of the store but that was never a problem. For the most part I got in and out likely faster than I would have on a normal Saturday afternoon.

Shouldn't matter. They're not a Black Friday sales item. Just the regular price. My understanding from researching online was that Google was not allowing retailers to use the N7 as a Black Friday sales items.

Thanks. Been browsing the forum and learning a bit here and there. Gotten a few new use ideas on here already.

Ok, I will be going to Walmart tonight (after the Balck Friday rush) and buying my wife and I his and her Nexus 7s. Took 2 days of reading reviews and researching tablets before making my choice. I actually found it funny because every time I read about a tablet they compared it to the Nexus 7 so it soon became obvious it was the standard others were trying to reach.

My wife and I own Android phones so we're relatively familiar with the Android operating system. It was our phones that made us decide to go with a tablet. We got in the habit at night of using our phones to look at Ebay and check news and things in bed before going to sleep. The problem is a phone has a smallish screen size (our eyes are pushing 50 soon) and memory so we don't have a ton of apps on them.

What I want to know as I get ready to get our tablets is what should I know? Here's how we'll be using them.

My wife will be using them to get books from the library. We have Kindle e-readers but our library has a lot of e-books that are not available for Kindle so she wants the N7 as an alternate for reading library books. She'll also be using it to check Ebay, e-mail while at work and some light gaming.

For me I mostly will use it for checking the news, sports and weather. I also will be doing some light gaming, PDF storage and web surfing.

Neither of us plan on downloading any movies, TV shows or music (thus we don't need the bigger 32 gig version).

I will be going to Walmart tonight. My local Walmart has them.

Spent 2 days reading reviews and deciding between the Nexus 7 and a Kindle Fire HD only to be unable to find them anywhere in town until I checked Walmart. I will be going about an hour after the Black Friday crowd goes in. I have no interest to get in the middle of a mab scene which unfortunately Walmart seems to like to create.
