i have been playing with adb on my revlinux distro(an offshoot of ubuntu), since i installed adb and fastboot it is now available in the repostories. primarily for ubuntu. works realy well. although i have only used push and pull to backup my nandroid and apps. it is nice to have an alternative and one for linux.

sorry for delay but had a few personal problems to sort out. after scouring the net and not really wanting to loose more money finally settled on one of those fruits that cannot be named  :( --i know totally wrong but it just worked without any hassle. ;D  i can now access the net in parts of the house that my wifi does not work via my devolo plugins.

just an update--found that i can talk to my 7 from linux using ADB. i did it the hard way before i found this link which will put the tools in you software sources.

              http://www.webupd8.org/2012/08/install-adb-and-fastboot-android-tools.html

unfortunatly or fortunatly from which ever prospective---command line only  :(  ;D
plus once installed does not require root in a terminal. to many commands to mention but

adb start-server
adb pull /sdcard/??folder/ (will pull files to home directory)
adb kill-server

many thanks for info--checked my router and the mac address of the gigabit is showing in the config screen but inactive. so i presume the gigabit is not compatible. tried the terminal command but eth0 not recognised. will checkout the links and see if i can get another one.

using gmtp in linux--you will not see an icon to show your nexus7 but open the program and simply hit the connect button and your nexus7 structure will become visible.

although not a great game player - i found that machinarium and waking mars both from the humble bundle run really well on the nexus7.

updated both versions of the nexus toolkits. still having problems with both. with wugs i can complete back up and re-boot but when i close the dialogue box and the backup should be pushed to my PC. i get another dialogue with error message --line 11245(file c:program files(x86)wugfresh development etc. error subscript used with non array variable. tried removing and re-installing to different director--same fault. with twrp i can make a back up but after completion and re-booting should go into recovery but goes into the page with the android on its side with red exclamation mark. on re-booting go into bootloader and load twrp recovery image it does not find the backup. anyone got any ideas. had no problems with 4.1.2
