New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Re: Unable to connect my N7 to laptop
« on: February 13, 2014, 11:10:55 AM »
Thank you matt!
It's USB mode. You mentioned reinstalling the drivers?  Do I go to Device Manager & uninstall the drivers  for the N7 and then connect via USB and let the drivers load up again?
Thanks for taking the time to write. I have spent many frustrated hours and appreciate your help very much. Ann

New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Unable to connect my N7 to laptop
« on: February 12, 2014, 11:55:33 PM »
Original problem:
N7 suddenly did not show up on laptop when connected via USB. Have tried different USB Ports with the same results. Other devices are working well with those ports.
N7 shows up in Device Manager as working properly.
Have tried so many different fixes without success. Finally decided to update to the newest version from JWR66Y.
From there things went downhill....Finally with the help of Wugfresh Toolkit I was able to update to KOT49H.
It did a factory reset. I had made a backup the day before and also saved a backup(Titanium Pro) to my laptop.
Now to my question:
I'm still unable to see my N7 files on my laptop. When connecting via USB and go to “My Computer” it does not show but it shows up as working fine in Device Manager.
Have gone through all of the settings I can think of but nothing seems to help.
Can anybody help me to be able to connect and see my N7 on the laptop. It has worked before.... From there I could then restore my backed up files.
I will appreciate any suggestions!!!!!!!! Thanks in advance, Ann

I got the message that KitKat 4.4 is downloaded to my Nexus 7 and ready to be installed.
After the last update I had to root again.  Has anybody found a way to install it without re-rooting?
Thanks for this great and helpful forum!

Thank you for your help,bjs229!
What I meant for ITunes is that I purchased some tunes from Apple iTunes and then transferred them to my Nexus.
They kept playing even after turning my N7 off. The only way I previously found to turn them off was to pause them and then turn the N7 off.
You are right! Pulling down the notification from the upper left corner works.  I'm glad to have finally gotten the answer.
Now all is working well.  Thank you!!!!

Thank you , JayJ.
I found all the pictures I was looking for with your help. Created a separate folder for my pictures and I'm now using QuickPic.
Now I'm transferring the pictures from my laptop. For me it works much better than Picasa or Google Plus.
I appreciate your help very much!

Hi, my N7 is rooted and has JB v. 4.3.  My laptop has Win7,64bit and I'm using Firefox, always updated.
Here is my question:  When N7 is connected to laptop via USB cable, most of content of my Nexus shows up in the Nexus Folder on my laptop. Gallery (for pic's) is not visible. I would like to remove all of it's content through the laptop and then start all over again adding my pictures via the laptop. I have done that in the past and it worked well.  I have looked through all of the folders on laptop/Nexus but can't find "Gallery"  Am I missing something?
Also, made my own folder and loaded a number of iTunes in it.  When I play them, they won't shut down, even when turning the Nexus off. The only way I'm able to do shut it off is to put it on "Pause" and then shut my Nexus down. Is there another way to do it?
So, my two problems are: Not being able to shut off the music in the Music Folder and not being able to see the Picture Gallery Folder in the content of my N7 on the laptop.
Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help and for this informative forum. Ann

Nexus 7 Audio/Video / How to turn off tunes in my play list
« on: November 05, 2013, 06:00:03 PM »
Hi,
I have purchased Power Amp hoping to solve my problem but it didn't work. Have looked through all of the settings but haven't found anything yet.
When I play some of the tunes in my play list, I can't shut the music off.  The only way I have been able to do it is to "pause" it and then turn off my Nexus.
Hopefully, there is a better way and I just haven't found it yet....
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance, Ann

Thank you both again for writing. I updated Wugfresh to 1.7.3  last night and reinstalled the drivers.  This time it worked well.
Now it's rooted again and working great. Made a backup with Titanium Pro, then transferred it also to my portable HDD just in case.
Now all is well and life is good.
We'll just have to wait and see if it needs rooting again when when the next OTA update comes out.

Most of all, thank you both for your interest and your help! I have learned a lot through this forum and have still a long way to go.
Thanks, Ann

One more question I meant to ask...
If I make another backup with the toolkit later before rooting, would that add another backup or just change the previous backup?

Also, when there are any OTA updates in the future, would I have to re-root each time?

Again, thanks for all of your help!

Thank you both for writing.
I have flashed Custom Recovery ...I think. It was looking for a Zip file which I couldn't find.
Have uninstalled Voodoo and unchecked MTP just in case. After rooting, should I check MTP again?
I have noticed today that there is yet another update for the Toolkit (v1.7.3) Will start from scratch later when I have more time.
Also, this might be a silly question...but is there a way to sync everything on my N7 to my laptop.  At this point I see most of the files but not all of them when I connect with the USB cable.
Again, I appreciate your answers and this forum very much. Thanks, Ann

Nexus 7 Audio/Video / Re: How to rmove Pictures from Gallery or Picasa
« on: October 28, 2013, 04:19:33 PM »
First of all, I'm sorry that I didn't reply sooner. I didn't realize that there were some other replies to my question. Thank you so much for taking the time to do it!
As for the pictures...no, I haven't sort it out yet but will give it another try later. At this point I'm having a big problem after updating to OS 4.3.
Once I get this figured out, I will try to deal with the pictures again. Most of all, thank all of you for writing!!!

Nexus 7 Root, Hacks, Mods And Development / Can't boot to BootLoader mode
« on: October 28, 2013, 04:11:43 PM »
Can’t get into Bootloader mode..
I have updated to Jelly 4.3, and tried to keep the Root in effect. Don’t know what happened but guess that I didn’t catch the “Temp Unroot” in Voodoo RootKeeper.
Now, all my files are still there and N7 boots up fine. I made sure to update the Toolkit (v.1.7.2) and used the new Build JWR66Y and updated SuperUser.
Have tried to root it again, made all of the backups, etc. with Wugfresh Toolkit.
I get to the point of “Unlock” then nothing happens after checking ADB on laptop. Have tried to let the software do it or boot it manually into Bootloader Mode but nothing works. I just can’t proceed from there.
My beloved Nexus7 shows up in Device Manager with no problems. When I turn it on the Padlock shows open but only very briefly. Have downloaded a Rootchecker and it shows that it’s not rooted. My Titanium Pro will not work either.
My last update while rooted went flawlessly but this time somehow I made a mess of it. I use Win7 on the laptop...
At this point I don’t know what to do.....
Should I.... use Nexus Toolkit v.1.7.2 to “Flash Stock & Unroot” then “Relock OEM Lock”?
Maybe this will return N7 back into factory condition and then I could use the backups?
If anybody has any suggestions, I will appreciate it very, very much!

Nexus 7 Audio/Video / Is there a picture viewer that is not cloud based?
« on: October 21, 2013, 05:57:09 PM »
Hi,
I'm unable to remove/ delete pictures from Picasa or Gallery and I'm looking for a good, basic picture viewer where I can easily remove duplicate and unwanted pictures. Also, I like to transfer some pic's from my PC.
Is there a non-cloud based app. out there? Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
