I have had a chance try the Unity script in the above post now and it is great. It uses two scripts, one to mount and one to unmount, called from a Unity menu button, but they could just as easily be extracted from the unzipped download folder and used with Xubuntu.

Just a small point re Chrome: on a desktop PC, Chrome's cache can reach insane sizes. Many GB. If the same thing is true with the android version, remember to clear the cache sometimes as our storage is so limited.

Typically, Apple have placed themselves at the top of the market. My guess is they WILL produce an iPad Nano, 8" screen, 16GB, $350. Sane?

Actually, for one linux system to be specially designed in such a way it cant speak to another without using a Microsoft Protocol is a disgrace.
Thanks for your research. As a user that ONLY runs Linux (12.04) I would have been stuck without this 'how to'.
I have come across this before with various MP3 players, notably Samsung, but never expected from another Linux device. Lets hope Google update it.

I just had this from Google in an email: Hello,
We wanted to send you an update on your Nexus 7 pre-order. We’ve had incredible demand for the new tablet and are shipping them as quickly as possible. All Nexus 7 8GB orders will ship by July 20, and Nexus 7 16GB orders will ship by next week. I am in the UK.

Question for everybody.
Do you think this shortage will get worse over the next couple weeks or is what we experiencing happen often in the first week of a release and the next shipment will take care of any residual demand?
If the device matches the hype in performance, then they will be hard to find for a while is my take. I think the demand has been building for a really good Android 7 since the iPad was first introduced, and the Nexus has opened the floodgates. Google have clearly been taken by surprise, and so have probably under ordered. If on the other hand you feel the device does NOT live up to the hype, move on quick

Chrome does not support flash.
Actually, I dont think that is quite true. Chrome actually has Flash embedded I believe, rather than using an external lib.

OK, we know N7 is not supplied with Flash. I lifted this line from the instruction manual 'Flash isn’t available with Chrome for Android. If you need Flash, download the Browser from the Google Play Store app'
SO,
1) Is it as simple as that? Just (re) download Chrome from the app store to effectively have it available?
2) Would doing so overwrite the existing app, or add another version of Chrome, thereby using up valuable storage.
And no, sadly my N7 is not yet delivered.

I am in the UK. No sign of my order which I placed on July 1st with Play. I think this launch has been handled v badly. The stores here are insisting the Play voucher IS included with store bought devices, so by buying from G/Play I got late delivery and an extra charge (shipping). Will NEVER make this mistake again......
On a more positive note, just installed NavFree on my phone. Utterly brilliant! Will add it to the 'seven' for sure.

Of you guys who have tracking numbers, have any of you ordered the 8G model, or are they all 16s? Is the 8G model going to be an urban myth?
