Smaller, lighter, cheaper?
Nexus 7 is a nice tablet but I hope tablets five years from now will have edge to edge screens, weigh less and cost less than today.

Yea, charged it up, did nothing. Heard from customer service yesterday, i should charge another 249.00 to my card and order a replacement and then send back the broken one and
if they determine that i didn't break it, they will take the second 249.00 off my credit card.
I would have said "I'll send it back and you can replace it or refund my money. Please give me an RA number." Have you tried the old "hold the power button for ten seconds" trick?

No problem here but I don't push mine very hard. Sounds like the touch screen problem occurs when it's being put through its paces.

Just a FYI, the WEP passcode is not necessarily all numeric and not necessarily 10 characters.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the Nexus 7 actually supports the older WEP router security? It has been several years since WPA has become more standard.

As to the OP, yeah, mine had two tape stickers on each side. I elected to have mine tied to my account when I purchased it so I suppose they opened it for that. Seems like that would be a tedious process. Maybe that's why the release seemed to be such a mess, even though I got mine by the middle of the month as promised.

Undo- Which silicon skin did you order? I have one for my Razr and like it very much. I think I would prefer the same for my N7.
The only one I could find...from casesbuy.com. It's coming from Hong Kong and won't get here for a while so I have no idea of its quality. I'll post again when I get it. I expect in a few weeks there will be more available.

I'm surprised Zell doesn't think the N7 screen is much sharper than the Kindle Fire. I've used a Fire and I own a Nook Color which both have 1024 x 600 resolution. In comparison, the Nexus 7 screen at 1280 x 800 is much sharper and, to me, the best feature/improvement compared to my Nook. I've ordered a silicon skin for my Nexus 7. The tablet's rubber back is not very grippy and with the glass front, it seems too slippery to hold for hours while I'm reading. If the bezel around the screen was narrower, it would be easier to palm the device while using it. I guess my hands are a bit too small. Those are my second impressions.

I'm sorry some of you are having trouble. 10 minutes after I unboxed and turned on my tablet I got an email saying the Google Play credit is now available. When purchasing my first ebook, payment options were, the $25 credit, or either of two credit cards associated with my Play account. It was effortless.

This thing is light! Great screen! Very speedy!
Kinda wish there was a bezel around the screen made of the same rubber material as the back, instead of an all glass front. It might be easier to hold and I'm not a fan of all-glass fronts on tablets or laptops.
These are just my first thoughts though.

I got the email from Google after midnight on Saturday morning. I assume that means even if the package is at a UPS facility, there will be no tracking update until Monday morning when UPS opens for business. I highly doubt the package is in transit since there has been no such update. I don't expect to receive it until Wednesday, or possibly Tuesday afternoon.

I'll stick with my opinion on this... there's nothing worse then having to reinvest in your devices every year or two. The Nexus 7 is one of the more powerful tablets on the market, so I'd like to see at least two years of life out of it. The same thing goes for laptops and desktops, though many in the industry want us to buy new every couple of years I try to get at least three years out of each device I own and the Nexus 7 will be no less.
Google can continue to update the device via software and possibly add new features through the dock port or USB port when possible.
Who's to say you must buy a new gizmo just because yours isn't the latest greatest? Asking technology to go at a snail's pace just so mine won't be outdated seems selfish. Updates happen, no matter the technology. If you buy a refrigerator today, chances are a new model will come out next week. Don't let it bother you. My Nexus 7 is on order. I already look forward to seeing what they'll do with V2.
