Nexus 7 General Discussion / Thanking Forum Members
« on: September 18, 2012, 11:13:34 PM »
How do you thank people for helping you with your questions? I have learned a great deal since I have been here. I have learned a lot thru the search and read method. When that fails there are some great members in this community that have helped me immensely. JJ and Prime for instance have done a great job in the short amount of time I have been a member. I hope to able to pass on my knowledge to others and give back what was given to me. I use Tapatalk  and don't see an option for thanking. I also tried on the web version and didn't see a way to do it.

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Widgets
« on: September 18, 2012, 10:28:30 PM »
At this point in my young Android development I hate widgets. For whatever reason as soon as I install one or a few I feel good at how cool my home screen looks for about 3 minutes. Beautiful widgets, hd widgets etc.. They should call them annoying widgets. After painstakingly rearranging my screen for like 10hours to get everything just right I then feel like my tablet has slowed down to a snails pace and every little millisecond of lag is for sure the fault of a damn widget. I know I am crazy but I just can't seem to find the right widget and stay in a long term relationship.

Nexus 7 Root, Hacks, Mods And Development / Screwed Up!
« on: September 16, 2012, 10:41:01 PM »
Damn! Well it was a learning experience. I starting getting an error message saying I was out of space when downloading an app. I had over 6 gigs free?WTH? I made a mistake and somehow I didn't have or couldn't find the backup file. I ended up going back to stock and going back thru the process again. I am in the middle of reinstalling apps. I have to figure this backup thing out cause this sucks.

Nexus 7 Root, Hacks, Mods And Development / To freeze or not to freeze
« on: September 16, 2012, 04:09:51 PM »
I have been trying to absorb as much info as I can when it comes to Android and the Nexus. Sometimes it seems there are some subjects that don't seem to have a definitive answer. For instance: anti virus or no anti virus? App killer or no app killer? As far as taking care of some of the bloat now that I am rooted, do I freeze or remove? From what I have read when dealing with system apps like the Korean language and magazine or currents its best to freeze because of the chance of having problems if there are any  ota updates to come.
What apps do you find to be wastes of space and resources and what is the correct process to put them on ice so to speak?

Well I thought I did enough reading to be able to root my Nexus. I haven't been able of get past the first step. I enabled debugging installed the drivers or so I thought. I installed pda net and now I have the yellow exclamation point on MTP. I can't find the driver for the life of me. I read to check not known device in the pda setup and then I read check Samsung somewhere. I went with unknown like the video stated. I was worried about brick ingredients my device and I can't even install a damn driver. I noticed when in debugging mode my computer doesn't show the Nexus as a drive. Is that normal?
Also super su or su?

Nexus 7 Help / Chrome Crash
« on: September 13, 2012, 04:48:32 PM »
First real concern with my Nexus. Chrome stopped working. It would close as soon as I would open the app. I tried with voice and with search as well. I deleted the last update and now it seems to be running fine. Strange.

Nexus 7 Help / Youtube problems

Whenever I run YouTube the videos freeze before completion. If I tap the HD icon the video starts back up. Does anyone else have this issue? Fix?
Thanks

Nexus 7 Apps / Slingbox for tablets or Slingbox mobile.
« on: September 07, 2012, 09:02:59 PM »
I broke down and bought a SB solo for football season. The thing is I bought the SB tablet app which was 30 dollars and the stream won't run without constant stutter when on hd. The other standard definition setting plays better but still is choppy. I tried the SB mobile app for another 30bucks but it didn't have hd but streamed better it seemed. I  returned it because I was already stuck with the one for tablets. Anyone with experience with getting this running right? I I was thinking maybe it's my Internet connection but netflix and YouTube run fine.
Thanks for any help!

I have noticed that when I try and use Google Now when bluetooth is on that I get terrible lag. The initializing message lasts for an unacceptable amount of time. If I turn BT off, voice commands work like butter. I use a BT speaker so it isn't feasible to have to shut it off just to use the Google Now, which I like. Has anyone found a fix for this yet that allows for using both simultaneously?
Thanks for any help.
