No issues
Can you give us some more details? Are you rooted? Have you made any changes to your build.prop? What recovery are you using?

Refer here for the changelog on the latest build of Bugless Beast for the Nexus 7 (code name grouper)

Refer to the downloads section for current and previous builds.

Peter Alfonso has been developing ROM's since the OG Droid days.  He was one of the very first ROM builders.  I have a lot of faith in his builds. They are EXTREMELY stable.  I actually installed his ROM this morning. Went silky smooth.

Instruction for installing through ClockWorkMod Recovery

1. Download the ROM http://peteralfonso.net/GROUPER/ROM/JELLYBEAN/pete_grouper_ota_2012-10-10.zip
2. Make a backup of all user apps and system data with Titanium Backup.
3. Reboot into recovery. (if you have Rom Manager, there is an option for this) To boot into recovery without an app with that option, turn off the device, plug USB into any PC with or without drivers, hold volume down + power to boot into bootloader, use volume up to select recovery, press power to select.
4. Make a Nandroid backup
5. Format data and cache, format cache, go to mounts and format system, go back, go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache, go back.
6. Install zip from sd card.  go to downloads and select pete_grouper_ota_2012-10-10.zip
7. reboot

After installation you can restore all user apps and system data through Titanium.

Nexus 7 Accessories / Re: OTG-USB & Flash Drive on the Nexus 7

I have seen a write-up on a similar issue.  What seems to be the issue is one of the pins on the mico side are not connected on the shorty adapters. I have read that one needs to solder a wire to connect pin 4 and 5.  You may find some useful information here http://tech2.in.com/how-to/accessories/how-to-make-your-own-usb-otg-cable-for-an-android-smartphone/319982

Welcome to the forum.  You have found a great group of people who are motivated to learn together as we journey through the excellent experience of owning the greatest 7" for factor device!

The update has obviously failed.  You need to find out why the update failed if you want to keep your current ROM.  This can be a huge hassle.  I recommend using titanium backup for all of your user apps and system settings. Then install the latest release of Peter Alfonso's Bugless Beast. This is a ROM that is very close to stock, yet optimized. It includes the latest 4.1.2 update and binaries.  You can check out the details @ PeterAlfonso.com

Whenever the dalvik cache is wiped, the os will automatically optimize apps. Wiping the dalvik cache is part of the update script

There is a bug in the boot loader. You have to be plugged into a PC in order to boot into recovery from the bootloader.

I wonder if this is an official release on the leaked binaries for build JRO03R.. Anyone have the update that can identify the build?

Nexus 7 Audio/Video / Re: Can the N7 play mkv's and avi's?
« on: October 09, 2012, 10:31:19 PM »
The stock video player can play *.avi format files, but it depends on what codec is used.  I don't think that the stock player can play the mkv.  There has been a strong recommendation to use MX player for watching videos and to add compatibility for most formats and codecs.

I just received a software update for lookout security. They added an optional feature called "signal flare."  It automatically saves the last known location of your device before it runs out of battery life. That could be quite useful for a lost device.

Tiny, the app was not acquired through conventional methods. I do not wish to violate forum policy, nor grab the attention of the device manufacturer whence the app came from.

There is a better solution for the RAZR if you are rooted.  Using an sqlite editor, the entitlement check can be overriden, providing full use of the phones default hotspot feature.

Nexus 7 Polls / Re: Do You Plan On Rooting Your Nexus 7?
« on: October 09, 2012, 09:50:03 AM »
I downloaded the root toolkit before my N7 hit my doorstep! I am thinking of returning it though, since I am the 30 day return period of the retailers policy.  Is the method of returning the firmware to stock, unrooting, and relocking the bootloader  unrecognizable from a completely unmodified device?

This may be another rumor, but I might have heard that the 16Gb and the 32Gb models are one and the same, with the sorage partitioned and locked down.  Is this a possible coincidence?  I know that many PC components work this way, such as a CPU.  The manufacturer produces a batch of chips with the same die.  If they have a high enough percentage of those cores tested in each chip, they will lock all the similar cores for that batch.  So a four core CPU becomes a two core based off of a random probability that it may have a faulty core.  With the proper hardware and software, the locked down two core can become a fully funtional four core.  Given that the rumor is true regarding the 16Gb and 32Gb, this may be a realistic possibility.
