Had to flash the stock ROM and then root/cwm, install tapatalk, d/l the update, reboot into recovery, install the update, reboot, install stickmount & Titanium, recover apps and data from backup.

Worked well apart from losing my kindle books, not putting widgets back on the screen and having to type all my account details in again for Skype, mail, YouTube, Facebook, etc.

Then I disabled a few apps and restarted and got stuck at the animated X.

So rinse and repeat, without the disabling apps and it looks good so far.

I need the nav app to be able to read Garmin IMG files and do off line routing.
Less than 5mins from the city centre and there can be no cell coverage at all.

Orux Maps reads the IMG files but doesn't do off line routing.

One of the things I loved about DROID X was the shake to undo. Any way to do this on any android device with accelerometer? I would settle for ANY undo actually.
I thought that is an Apple thing.

Etch-a-Sketch had it first...

What OS is your phone running? It could be a protected app in which case you won't find the apk so won't be able to sideload it...

Titanium Backup or Astro will back an app up as an apk that can be installed on another device.

I had the same issue. I used titanium backup to save it on my phone and mailed myself the apk file.

Personally I can't understand why people would take pictures with a tablet, I've got a phone to do that and I'd feel stupid...

You could also say...
"Personally I can't understand why people would take pictures with a phone, I've got a camera to do that and I'd feel stupid..."

I've got 4 cameras and still want every device I pick up to be able to take a decent photo.

The N7 also has a decent screen for editing...

The nexus 7 isn't a camera.

And for some, that's the N7’s biggest flaw.

I would use a decent camera all the time on mine.
I'm constantly using camscanner on my phone.

I use DroidEdit for text stuff and syntax highlighting coding.

Whose they?  Google?

IPad's and YouTube.
My iPod touch and 2 other androids were fine.

The iPad would buffer for 15s for each 5s of play.

Mainly with youtube freezing all the time. I have found it to be impossible to watch a youtube video for more than a few seconds before it starts to buffer. Even my HTC phone on 3G doesn't do that. Is there a fix? If not it is v v disappointing - especially when I am in the presence of an iPad owner!
It was 6 months before my original iPad could watch a YouTube clip successfully. They were diabolical.

4 or 5 days of general use? I don't know what you mean by that but did it have a nuclear reactor? Lol.

You open the back and 3/4 of the space is battery...
Weighs about double the N7 too.

Subjectively, it just seems to use the battery up far more quickly when Wi-Fi is on than any of my other droid devices have.
Objectively, the drain (about 10% per hour) seems on par for about 9hrs use.

I think I got spoiled by my last 7" tablet that would go for 4-5 days of general use before charging rather than one day. It was however a single core 600mhz beastie with a huge battery.

The only real issue I'm having, is accelerated battery drain if WiFi is on.

Set it to off during sleep then....

Not a lot of help when you're using it though.
