I thought to add that when I rebooted and selected recovery mode I got the android robot with the open flap door and an X on it.

Does that mean something is wrong with the bootloader?

Hi guys,
I need help.

I have a rooted nexus 7, rooted using the excellent wug toolkit. Working fine till I did something I should not have.

I installed LBE Privacy Guard on the nexus 7 even though it said it was not compatible. Essentially I transferred the apk and installed it that way. The install froze the nexus when I opened the app. Rebooting did the same. As it rebooted it would freeze with a blank screen.

I deleted the apk and used the reboot into safe mode where I pressed the power button and a volume button and got the nexus to boot properly. I "think" I also managed to uninstall LBE.

Now all is well except that I can no longer resize widgets on my screens. When I try to resize the resize area turns red and when I click elsewhere the resize did not take.

Obviously I messed something up but don't know what. I am using ADWLauncher EX. Cannot find the original launcher to go back to it.

I'm from the windows world and don't know my way around android. Please advise.

Very scary indeed.

Here's a thought :
"Droidsheep guard" is made by the same guy who created Droidsheep, the hacking tool. Makes me wonder if it is really wise to have Droidsheep guard installed on my system, especially as the author says that av apps flag it as malware. Might be like letting the wolf into the hen house!

I know how to protect my windows systems, but android is new to me. Is there a forum for android security, like the many such forums for windows security?

Thanks for the tip. I just installed Droidsheep guard.

Has it ever thrown you a warning popup?

Any thoughts about LBE Privacy Guard app? It's apparently "not compatible" with the nexus 7.

I do not know enough about android to know what to be afraid of. Most PC articles warn PC users not to use public hotspots so I assume there is something to be worried about.
Good suggestion to turn off NFC. Will do so now.

I'd like to know about this too. I find it scary to connect to a public hotspot. Are there precautions one can take to avoid others snooping in my Nexus?
