Hi all, just wondering what your thoughts are as far as trading up from Nexus 7 Gen 1 to Gen 2. Are there enough NEW features that make it worth trading up ? I currently have my Gen 1 up on Craigslist, but I'd like to ask you guys first what your thoughts are.

Also, one of the truly weak parts of the Nexus 7 gen 1, was listening to movies through headphones. The sound was so weak, even when installing speaker apps to improve the speaker volume. has anyone noticed this same problem with the Nexus 7 gen 2 ?

Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Nexus 7 Help / Re: HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH MY NEXUS 7 !!!

When you access the Play Store, you can choose "My App" and it will list all the app that you have purchased and in most cases the free apps that you have downloaded as well. Then you can reinstall from there.

Awesome, Thanks !

Your purchased Apps will be available for re-install when you access Google Play at no cost.

Thanks S. Prime. Problem is I have a ton of apps, I'm guessing I should sync my Nexus 7 to my computer so my computer will show all the apps I have.

Sounds like restore time.

Do you mean restore to factory ? If I re-add all of my apps, does it cost again ? I know on iOS it doesn't.

Nexus 7 Help / HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH MY NEXUS 7 !!!
« on: July 23, 2013, 01:39:37 PM »
My Nexus 7 has gone insane on me. Keep getting error messages stating that the keyboard has stopped working. Then of course, it asks if I want to file a report, BUT, the keyboard doesn't work, so obviously I can't file a report. Then, another massive problem, I can not access the Google Play Store. I've even restored the app to version 2.0 (factory), and it doesn't work. Is there a way to delete it and then add the Google Play Store ? BTW, I am not rooted, nor have I ever rooted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yoshi,

Very well written review. You're very mature for an 11 year old, you might have a future in journalism ! Good job. And I agree, I don't have one complaint about my Nexus 7. In fact, people see it, and what I can do with it, and they are always amazed at the price for such an amazing tablet. Great tablet !

I got the Otterbox Defender Nexus 7 Case on Amazon for $52 (I've even seen these selling for $45 elsewhere). Great case so far, love the screen protector (no oil slicks, sticking, bubbles underneath), and love the snap on shield, that doubles as a kickstand. So far, like this way better than the Gumdrop case I had for my Kindle Fire.

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Re: I'm trying to love it...

You will be hard pressed to find a bigger Apple fan than myself (iphone wise). I love the iPhone, have had one version or another since it first came out in 2007. I love iOS. Love it's simplicity, love everything about it. BUT, I truly love the freedom Android/Google gives you. I love being able to make my Nexus 7, truly mine, also, I love the freedom to download things like emulators, I have a ton of games from the NES to the PS1. You have to jailbreak the iPhone/iPad to get those. I love that my Nexus 7 gets updated frequently. And, I love the different browsers I have on the Nexus 7, Chrome is so much smoother than Safari. Love reading books on my Nexus 7. Love the speed of the OS. Just love everything about it.

Maybe I'm easy to please, but I've loved my Nexus 7 since day one (got it on release date July 14th 2012). It has replaced my notebook computer.

They work but iPhone doesn't have NFC. You will have to pay for every app, song, movie, or book twice as well.

Agreed, though you get the best of both worlds. There are tons of apps for the iphone that aren't on Android (Where are you Crazy Taxi for Android ??), and for Android, Emulators work like a charm, where you have to Jail Break an iPhone to get emulators to work. I do have lots of duplicate apps/games for my Nexus & that I have on my iPhone, but that's because I love those apps/games.

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Re: Manual Updated

I'm probably the last one on the planet to have noticed this, but the Nexus manual has been revised to include details of the new functions available with the latest android update.

And the cover is now sky blue  :)

It's funny, didn't even notice. Maybe I should actually read the damned thing, I'm sure there's a million tips I'm missing. I usually like to figure things out myself, but coming from iOS, maybe I should read it.

I know they came out with one on the iPad, I'd really see them come out with one for the Nexus 7, especially since I'm a Prime Member. Anyone hear any rumors ?

All that I had hoped for .....

Allows me to read mail, check investments, see the latest news, without turning on my PC
Allows me to read books from library
Allows me to read, watch movie, hear music without disturbing others

First gadget I turn on in the morning -- last one I turn off at night!

Wow, you summed it up perfectly, though I may add, I love playing games on my Nexus 7 as well. I've had my 16GB Nexus 7 since July 14th (launch date), and I love this thing, such a great product. Best $250 I ever spent (16GB is now $199).

I really didn't like the screen protector on the Gum Drop (Kindle Fire edition).

Great advice. Though I have a really good laptop, and haven't touched it since July 14th (when I got my Nexus 7).

I am a little biased, I liked the Otterbox Defender for my iphone, DID NOT like the Gumdrop case for my Kindle Fire.
