Hi Sam, I like your TRS-80 'avatar' there. I was a model one but mostly mod III user/experimenter. Just threw a Mod III in the dumps two weeks ago...
Cheers I cut my teeth on the Color Computer 2 and 3 systems, both of which I still have. I'm a classic computer junkie, though I've parted with most of my old systems over the years mainly due to space. Also were you a BBS user back in the day?

I am off work tomorrow and I was really hoping that I would have it. But sadly my card has not been charged yet and my google wallet account status still only shows that i ordered it on June 27th.
I saw the charge pending two weekends ago so I thought they had already debited my account, but now that I look it never went through. I guess they did a check to verify the funds were there then pulled it out. My receipt shows they'll charge when it ships, so I guess that'll be my first clue when it's on its way.

Yup, it has a 7 inch screen, hence the name Rumors of a Nexus 10 have been floating around as well, but I don't think we'll see that anytime soon. Something else I've seen are people referring to the new Nexus phone as "Nexus 7" too, but this is not correct. Even on the This Week in Tech podcast Leo Laporte held up a Nexus phone calling it "the new Nexus 7" which made me double-check my order to verify I didn't buy a phone instead of a tablet. It's a good convention i guess, but how will they name subsequent versions? Nexus 7 2? With the name and the power they put into this thing I hope it'll be a current tablet for at least 2-3 years with the next few versions of Android working with it. I hate seeing devices come out that are considered legacy within a year or two.

Great info, thanks for posting... Since their profit does seem to be higher on the 16 Gig model I wish they would've invested alittle into an HDMI port or rear camera on it which would've given people more of an incentive to buy the $249 unit.

Wow, this is great news... I hoped they would send a confirmation email with tracking number before it was shipped, but maybe they'll drop them in the mail today or tomorrow and surprise everyone.
Wonder who in here will get theirs first :-D

As others have said it should be possible. I sideload Android packages to my Kindle Fire all the time since the Amazon app store lacks many of the apps I use, including all the Google apps (Gmail, G+, Maps, etc), so doing this to the N7 should be no different.
Also there are a number of ways to do it effortlessly, and I'll wrote-up a tutorial when my N7 arrives. Honestly though I'm not sure what apps I'd need to sideload though since most if not all the apps I use are already in Google Play.

We'll know more about this when the N7 ships, but just curious if anyone has heard more about how the offline maps work or how much you can save. Ideally I'd love to save maps for when I take roadtrips, but I hope Google lets us select what data we want to save... for example I'd only need roads, mile markers, etc and no landmarks, satellite images, etc.
From the demo's I've seen it looks like you select Offline Map then draw a box around the area you want to save. I'd think just this wouldn't use much space since I used to have a single CD-ROM with this back in the day. One reason I got the 16 Gig N7 was for offline maps, so hopefully it's not overkill.
But even if Offline Google Maps is less than ideal at least with the GPS third party mapping apps can still be used at a cost.

Yeah I'm not sure about this. If Apple even releases a 7" tablet I'm betting it'll be closer to $300 but have more bells and whistles then the Fire or N7, like two cameras and more storage plus possibly 3G/4G connectivity.
Personally I'm not a fan of iOS, so I'll stick with Android and the N7 even though it has a few shortfalls.

Sam, I am curious...when you download a movie rental (from Google, Amazon, etc.) does it eventually expire? Surely they know you have downloaded it to your device, right?
Through Amazon you have 30 days to start watching the movie and when you first click Play your 24-48 hour period starts. After that the movie does expire and auto deletes from your device ( More info). As for movies you buy, those stay on your device definitively, but I assume there's a limit to the number of devices you can put it on similar to how the eBooks work. But I really hope the Amazon video client works on the N7 because since I've had the Kindle Fire for almost a year now and our BluRay player has the Amazon client as well we've started building a decent collection of content through them.

This is our current society where everyone is out for a quick buck. If I were google, I would explain that they would be blacklisted forever.
I agree, Google used to be pretty harsh on developers who sold items like this, especially the chrome laptops. But seriously who would pay that kind of price given the N7 will ship in a matter of days.

Thanks for the update on this, and yeah it just keeps getting better. I hoped they would announce the ship date by now, but nothing yet.

" Rear camera to me is useless. I would never be using it personally and would much rather have the superior screen and processor/GPU."
Same here, bought the 16gig so I could get all my apps off my evo4g, it's just so bogged down and I love my camera on the evolution, use it for work alot.
Actually I probably would use a rear facing camera if it had one, though it does look silly when you see people holding up ipads to record events Just nice to use around the house since I'll probably have this thing with me most of the time. Also I did order the 16 Gig version since I'm guessing the 8 Gig version won't have much room left after the OS and stock apps. I've heard 3 -4 gig which just isn't much.

Someone in another site mentioned the Google Action word would only work if you were on certain screens, but even if so it's still a great feature.
pduffer, thanks for the suggestion on PocketCloud Pro and 2XClient .. I'll check them out if VPN ends up working for me.
Also Archie definitely keep us uposted on the OTG table. I hope someone comes out with a keyboard and mouse built into a cover that fits the N7 since I've seen them for other tablets. If a keyboard with trackpad or even an eraser mouse were scaled down and added to a case this would be amazing.
